Libya beset by ethnic tension as elections loom

Jul 4, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Guardian

Libya's National Army wave a Berber flag during a rally in Tripoli. Many Berbers, or Imazighen, feel let down by the country's transitional leadership.

What the hell those liers from Mainstream Media means with "Libya's minority Berber community faced persecution under Gaddafi's pan-Arabism"?

Gaddafi was a pan-africanist, that is the reason those terrorist arabs destroyed Jamahyria... Most berbers, the warffallah tribe, keep being green and are calling to boycott those "elections".

Those berbers who chose to become traitors are now pissed because got nothing but the loot they stoled from another libyans - get lost, rats, Libya now is under imperialist hands.

HAHAHAHAHAHA
i just love to read youre comments!!!
1)Gaydafi banned amazigs from learning there language and naming there children amazigs names,he forced the arabic language on them, because he was an arabic nationalist.
2)warfallah tribe is an arab tribe you idiot ,why?....
warfllah tribe is an allience between 52 tribes(or houses now) most of these tribes are arab tribes the rest are arbised tribes, many of warfallans live in east of libya (one third of the tribe) and they fought in the front lines like everyone else, many officers from warfallah vowed to kill Gaydafi after he killed many warfallan officers in 1993,thats why they didnt fight with him because if they did the revolution would have taken a much longer time because there are more than a million in the allience!!
3)they are not green dude HAHAHAHAHA ,the percentege of people who signed for the election in baniwalid is 90%!!!! in zliten 86%!!!
you can see that even if there was some idiots who loved him they just moved on.
4)those amazigs are happy now because they have the freedom to teach there children there language and name them amazig names, they have tv channels in amazig ,they are recognized for the first time in libya, everyone can see how gratful they are for the revolution and how there heroic they were in the nafusa battles.
5)libya now is under libyan hands for the first time in 42.

so again i exposed youre lies and showed you how stupid you are

BS warffallah is a Berber tribe, besides they use arabic language.

Tuaregs are Imazighen and never got oppressed, this is only another rat-propaganda, but real life isnt a propaganda and those berbers who turned their back to Jaahyria will get REAL OPPRESSION under wahhabism in Libya... They will cry for jamahyria under Arab-Islamist despotism, you will see.

arabs generally dont play well in the sand box....look at all the countries where they are...chaos....they like to spill blood and dont care if it is that of another muslim. they leave their children crying in the streets surrounded by blood and just walk on to the next conflict they cause.

look at all the arab countries that surround Palastine....no one has helped the people of that country who are also arabs but of course they are more christian than muslim so they dont care

arabs are warring people and they use the koran for magic and spells which of course dont work...they have as many children they can so they think that way they will take over the world...

listen to the way they speak about each other and cry for western aid when they know full well they dont like anything about the western way of life...

there will be no democracy or peace in this country like any other country

Actually, you seem to be right. We are all being silly. We lecture them on different values, but it does not catch with them. The problem however is that the West is meddling with them, because of corporate interests, which adds to disturbances in their countries. So they run away from these turmoil, and fill other countries; and having so many children, they truly might take over the world.

You're right. Imagine another country having a torture camp like Abu Graib or Guantanamo were people are kept without any specific accusation

There are many countries that have places where people are treated badly, and killed illegally, the difference with gitmo was that it was caught and exposed....the arab countries dont even pretend these places dont exsit. They torture on a regular basis....and for nothing as complicated as terrorism.

Its is tiring to hear always the US......blah blah when Germany knows a thing or two about wiping people out right...point is...everyone who does not protest this way of being is implicated and no government in innocent.

Libya has much ethnic tension and many of the people are still being tortured or go missing for no reason...Women are not being treated very badly and the infrastructure not repaired. There will be no peace for many years...there is to much tribal hatred.....Islam does not bring them together

You are right, those camps are not like POW camps they are like concentration camps where people are tortured and threatened every day, some of those people in Gitmo have been there ten years without the rule of law,no trial or anything, the US is a Fascist state in all but name.

I was also talking about countries who have people in prison with out charge who are beaten on a daily basis...every one knows about Gitmo etc....but to only concentrate on that and continually quote it as the worse place in the world is to deny the many other places where it happens the USA is not alone in this practice and other countries including the UK also used it for its purposes...and the UK was also cited in transferring people to Morocco so that they could be tortured instead so they could say...'not on our hands'.....Remember how the UK used to treat IRA suspects....they were beaten and detained without families knowing where they where. Look at the practices in China and Russia....The US is in no way correct in its treatment of those people but is by no way the only country that invests in this type of detention....

I often wonder if people dont know about these other places or continually site the US cos its convenient or stylish.....The truth is that there is not a country in the world that has clean hands....dont forget Gitmo came after all these other countries right.

I don't think there are many countries, actually I don't know any, besides the US that wipe out humans without any legal right on foreign territory by drone attackings. It's officially done and it's proven as well to have caused innocent civilian casualties. Well, let any other country do that.. What would US say about that? It's not like I support islamic terrorism, hell no! It's just that I don't like the US pretending to be of any higher morale. Actually US does illegal things that others don't do

I agree that the US foreign policy is terrible and that successive government have been full of hypocrites, tyrants and murderers. The governments certainly do think they hold the higher path etc., My point is though that many other countries also do horrible things and have done for many years....the UK ruled most of the planet at one point they did not do that by being nice.

Countries have committed atrocities upon other countries for centuries. I dont support violence of any kind at any time...but to constantly quote the US is somewhat a mis nomer and could give the impression that no one else does it...or that no other country is capable of doing it and that all the unrest of the world is somehow only to do with the US...this attitude is not only dangerous but also show a one dimensional way of seeing things.

There was much violence and dirty deeds way before the US was formed. So lets just look to the positive and not always harp on what is already or should already known.

For me its not about blaming rather than to put things right. While we spend time blaming and moaning there is only negativity...

Funny how confused you are! You want to put things right, but you do not want to assign blame, and are making up the excuses. The disease cannot be cured, without making the diagnosis.

Yes there were always bad countries, just as there were always bad people. But the U.S. abuse of others has a Global reach, and it keeps broadening.

Looool! You haven't a clue! Ask any exile Tibetan what the Chinese did to the Tibetan population in the 1950s and 60s. Ask any Chechen what the Russians did to them in the 1990s. Ask any Ukrainian what the Soviets did to them in the 1930s. Ask any Cambodian what happened in their country in the 1980s. And that's only what comes to my mind just now.

Gitmo is a holiday camp in comparison to what most other countries think up for their opposition. Even a normal Russian prison is hell in comparison to Gitmo. I've also heard that most inmates of South American prisons would give an arm and a leg to rather sit out their terms in Gitmo.

So, according to you, every time something bad happens in the world just blame NATO and the US. Don't you think that's a bit too easy?

I'm not saying NATO or the US are innocent but do you really think Russia, China, or any other countries for that matter don't have their darker sides?

Just go and stand in the middle of Beijing and openly demand your right to an open and uncensored Internet. Or go and stand in the middle of Red Square in Moscow and demand gay rights. See what happens. I assure you, you won't like it.
