US should say that it is a military coup and stand against it firmly . the people around the world and people in middle east are expecting more firm and clear statement from US. It is very disappointing to the one who believe in democracy and in US to see the world leaders specially the US president are reluctant to take the right step and to watch for unarmed civilians killed every day just because they reject the military coup.

It was a coup. But there is not much anybody can do to go against the will of the Egyptian people in the streets. It is part of the revolutionary process. I do not know how things will turn out in the long run. I had hoped that the Brotherhood would work out. But we all see that the Brotherhood screwed up and missed their opportunity. Now there is a ne government changing the constitution. Let's hope they will change it forth better

The Council of African Political Parties is key. Is the Brotherhood a part of this?

Do you even know.....have any idea ...just how insignificant Egypt is to America and Americans?
The only reason I write to you about Egypt is to antagonize you.
No one here gives a sht what happens to Egypt. We just slow down and gawk .....like you do when you pass a car wreck on the freeway.

The powers that BE PERCEIVE Egypt as crucial to their strategic interests. Egypt might mistakeningly wipe Israel off the map.

the Egyptian revolution - as other revolutions in the region - has led to the collapse of the culture of fear, for once and for all. The genie is out of the bottle. No single political party - no matter how strong in terms of organisation, hierarchy and finance - can rule alone and reproduce a republic of fear. However, this does not mean the MB did not try to reproduce authoritarianism, because they did. Millions of Egyptians protested against this new dictatorship.

The irony is that we needed the military, who supported another dictator in the past, to remove this new pharao Morsi and the MB. But i believe that the military can be reigned in and that democracy will, in the end, survive the MB, the military and all other evils!

Yeah, but before that would ever happen, Israel would deliberately wipe Egypt off the map.
But neither event are likely to happen since Egypt has always played ball with Israel.

Idgit, Egypt has fought four-five wars against israel. The only thing that keeps Egypt from attacking right now is the USA pays them not to attack. Cut off aid and see hat happens. Nobody hates israel more than ther average Egyptian on the streets.

Besides, Egypt could probably get a better deal on military hardware from China and Russia.

Journalist Quote:

"The US has suspended delivery of four F-16s to Egypt due to the violence. Russia has offered to send 55 Migs and others forthwith. Russia has also exported a large quantity of wheat to bolster stocks that dwindled under Morsi. The US is still debating the USD 1.5 bn annual aid to Egypt; the UAE, Saudi and Kuwait have open pockets and have already sent USD 12 billion. Pictures of Putin were hoisted alongside those of el-Sisi and Nasser during June 26th 'anti-violence and terrorism' protest. There is a trend towards shaking hands with Russia. I think the West has miscalculated and may be in danger of losing the most populated - and arguably the most influential - Arab nation."

Obama has always miscalculted. They had everything their way. But they could not leave it alone.

I have not read those reports you mentioned. But they do not surprise me one bit. Russia is the reasl solution to the Egyptian crisis. Tell the zionists to tate their $1.5 billion and shove it.
