It's good that the judgment was overruled and the flogging averted, but in a more secular society, this would never have come up at all. Theocracy is the enemy of civilization.

Islam is a product of the Dark Ages and is dedicated to keeping mankind in the dark ages. From its misogynistic fear of female sexuality to the brutal punishments of a primitive judicial system, islam fights a fierce rearguard action against all human progress.

The average muslim is not capable to understand the importance of keeping government and religion separate.

The separation of state and church such as it happened in Europe in the middle-ages is still a mystery, or so it seems!
