A Chinese honor guard unit rounded off its Mexico tour on Friday, after staging a stunning performance at the host country's independence bicentennial.

Although it was the first time for the Guard of Honor of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) to participate in a military parade abroad, the 34-member team accomplished the task perfectly, said Meng Xianhua, head of the ceremonial unit, before heading back for China.

Guo Boxiong stressed that to accelerate the modernization drive of the PLA, it was of paramount importance to do a good job in the weapon and armament development. The armaments front of the PLA must be fully aware of the extreme importance and urgency of the weapon and armament development and go all out to boost the better and faster development of the weapons and armaments of the PLA.

i take by (pla) you mean the palestine liberation army
who are very hard pushed to get anything into the gaza strip,i am not so sure about the west bank, china may be able to produce more rifles and smallet equipment for conventional warfare, armaments are profit making and not the perogitive of any one country.there is also oil in venezuela, which could be traded for weapons, however i think america will take a keen interest,in what anyone in south america does.
