I think Australia should become a republic, vote for a President who can't be overthrown based on the interests of a single party. Only the people, represented by the full Upper and Lower house should have that power.
Lets go Swiss, they got it right

YEAH NEVILLE, GOODBYE JULIAR!
Funny thing is Julia says KEVIN refuse to tell what went on behind closed doors when she overthrew the Australian Government.
However, you might remember that is was JULIA who SAID she was not going to tell us what went on and she added that SHE NEVER WOULD TELL US.
So much for transparency.
JULIAR THE LIAR YOUR TERM HAS FINISHED. WE THE PEOPLE DIDNOT WANT OR PUT YOU THERE. YOU ARE DOING NOTHING BUT RIPPING US OFF.
BRING BACK KEVIN RUDD. YOU WIL NEVER HAVE KEVIN'S NOUS OR EXPERTISE JULIAR.
YOU DONOT REPRESENT AUSTRALIA OR US.
I want somebody else who acts more Australian .

What you are not understanding is that if Julia puts her job on the line on Tuesday ,she has to vacate her position as PM making the position available and put the vote to the party.
What is bound to happen is that another in the background will be promoted to PM to facilitate peace between the factions to go forward leaving Kevin and Julia in the wings looking on.
But who in the labour party is stupid enough to want the poisoned chalice now? Combet? Shorten? Both too smart to want anything to do with balance of power constrained govt stuck with ludicrous policy forced on them by greens and independents. My guess is they will both duck.
Rudd will lose. It is all about him and his ego and nothing to with the country and certainly not the labour party. To the extent "people power" has any prospect of swaying caucus, it will fall horribly short. Back bench for him and then possibly his ego and his wish for revenge will see him remove himself from the party and stay as independent so he effects balance of power and continue with grenades and stay on the front page.
Julia will lose the next election. Combet or shorten will step up in opposition and start the work of undermining abbott and friends. That might be relatively easy subject to the majority they get and mandate to reverse carbon tax and decisions presently doing nothing to keep people in jobs.

There is no saying that Abbott would rescind the carbon tax seeing the ink is dry and he can blame the set of books inherited from Labor to do so.
Keep an eye on the current defence minister who had to vacate foreign affairs for the return of Kevin,he may stick his hand up and that would placate all voting members of the caucus because of who he is as a person .
