from The Miami Herald:

"Wearing the seamless terrycloth garments worn by male pilgrims to symbolize equality and unity during hajj, Sayid Zeid said Egypt's constitution should represent all Egyptians - and, he added, it must be based on the Quran.

How can it be both, given the large Christian minority and the sector of liberal Muslims?

"'Shariah will be applied by God ... It should be applied as it came down from God ..."

... and forced upon others by violence and intimidation?

Welcome to the new, demorcatic Egypt.

Shariah will not be applied by God, it will be applied by sinful men who think they are God.

Theocracy sounds good to some people, but until such time as God appears and governs us in person, we will be oppressed by men who think they speak for God.

Although all countries will bear some characteristics of the majority religion, if that religion is allowed to have temporal power it will be a dead hand on the human intellect and a source of endless injustice.
