Apparently, Goodyear has been in negotiations with the unions for the last ... eight years about this closure, and has lost hundreds of millions in the meantime.

Yes, this union sound like one of le last dinosaurs... Going the way of dinosaurs towards extinction. If they had been less intransigent, I think part of the activity could have been saved. My heart goes to local people, this area has already been hard hit. Having such unions to "defend"them certainly doesn't help

Yes, but imagina that!
A company condemned to lose millions and millions, because it is not allowed to restructure an improfitable plant!
It must come to an agreement with the union. Bonkers to me !!!

At this stage they are probably getting rid of the plant to get rid of the union. And I bet any buyer will get cold feet after that.
