The Solomon Islands is the Pacific nation and neighbor of Australia that is in the most critically urgent need of labour mobility scheme assistance.

Solomon Islands is isolated from air and shipping route stopover and tourism business and employment such as Vanuatu enjoys.

Irrefutable evidence indicates the Solomon Islands barter economy traditional fish trade has collapsed with severe economic consequences for the SI nation and people as Australia has sat back and watched and ignored repeated request to assist with real aid and solutions.

The evidence also indicates protein famine in SI is well advanced with chronic poverty worsening together with other various social, environment and economic consequences including threat to peace in the Pacific generally.

Solomon Islands does not have the tax haven business revenue and employment Vanuatu has. Vanuatu also has people working in New Zealand already.

It is a disgrace to all Australians that the Rudd government has excluded Solomon Islands and not made SI the first nation to trial a worker mobility scheme in Australia.

Australian government trailing along so slowly and having to learn from tiny but strong New Zealand, is amazing and outrageous.
