Hypocritical Jagdeo slams Barbados on Guyanese treatment

There are 30 comments on the Stabroek News story from May 23, 2009, titled Hypocritical Jagdeo slams Barbados on Guyanese treatment. In it, Stabroek News reports that:

I don’t particularly like Shiela Holder much but I have to agree with her that the blame for this human exodus under the PPP’s watch lies squarely on their shoulders.

To Holder’s point about all Guyanese not being treated fairly, this will be a bigger problem for the PPP should black Guyanese begin tabling complaints at the doorsteps of our Caricom nations that they are being discriminated against in Guyana by the Indo ruled PPP party. They only need point to the recently completed UN Human Right Report by Gay McDougall which confirmed that blacks are being marginalized by the PPP in terms of access to jobs, educational scholarships and land dispersement.

I have personally heard many Guyanese blacks complaining that the PPP’s goal is to create economical genocide amongst the black community as payback for the PNC’s previous 28 year rule. They argue that under the PNC there was a socio economical balance since the Indo Guyanese controlled all the jobs in the private sector and the Afro Guyanese were able to find jobs within the government. However, with the PPP in power, the blacks were exited out of government jobs to make room for Indians. Unable to secure private sector jobs as well as government positions they cannot earn a living. This has caused tremendous economical upheaval within the black community. Having no work to support their families, many of the young black men are forced into a life of crime or exit the country to other shores in search of employment.

My advice to President Jagdeo is to take a hard look at what the PPP administration’s policies are doing to the blacks in Guyana and fix it before word of it gets out to the caricom nations. This kind of negative feedback will demonize the PPP with black caricom heads and only cause them further isolation and lost of respect. Seize this opportunity now that Janet Jagan is no longer there to reverse the Apan Jhat politics of Guyana Mr. President and let our nation be a strong leader again. I know you can do it.

We are a land of many psychics. So many knows what the intentions of others are.

If we should have an administration that demands the workforce must reflect the ethnic composition of the country. Many black Guyanese will find themselves without a job.

So far I have not read of the implementation of an affirmative action in the country. Affirmative action had been implemented in the US and Europe.

Very simple ad.

To tell the truth if Trinidad society turns a blind eye to gays I don 't see any reason to change the situation. If they are subject to discrimination I 'm sure there are laws against discrimination and they should be protected under these laws.

If parents don 't know what to tell their children then they are stupid and should follow a course on parenting. A person do not choose to become homosexual, he/ she is born with this sexual preference. It is not a sin. Even in the lower animal kingdom homosexuality is found.

Veronica, While you and some society may accept homosexuality, there are others who still will not accept this behavior. That does not mean they discriminate against them. I don't think that everyone should pretend that homosexuality fits into the social norms, but then intrinsically feel that it is not right. On the contrary, I agree with you and think that they should not be discriminated, or denied equal rights .
You indicated that "it is not a sin", How do you know that? What evidences can you provide that it is not a sin or sinful...I think you are taking it to the extreme....then you will have to deal with the Invisible man". There is no homosexuality in the lower animal kingdom, as you assumed,it is incidental.

Robby as you said they should not be discriminated against and this is really the gist of the problem.

I do not know what anyone can hold against homosexuals since it is a preference a person is born with and not acquire through association.

When I said it is not a sin, I used this term because of the reaction from some Christians. Who claimed homosexuality is a sin.

I used the original interpretation of the word sin, meaning "to miss the mark." How can a homosexual miss the mark when he/ she knows what his/ hers sexual preference is?
Homosexuality is found in the lower animal kingdom so it seems to be a most natural preference and not something that can be "only" associated with humans. Once I had 8 cats of which 3 were tomcats 2 were definitely bisexual and this is just in my home.

Veronica, the cats story really made me laugh and two of them were "bisexual', that is amusing. I wonder, if they knew that they were bisexual.I am curious to know about you also, Veronica. You seem to be an interesting person, are by chance married? Or.....Regardless of what, I really do admire your courage and reasoning power. It is good to have you on this blog.. I hope you are OK. My point is that "lower animal kingdom" do not have that powerful mental power to understand "preference", anyway how would you account for all those pregnancy in animals. Then, again who am I to doubt you???
Anyway, my dear lady, I have to attend a funeral in Delaware, but you take care, and as always you are unique and again good to have you on the blog. You make a lot of sense in what you write. Kudos to you.

Nice to know you were amused. Laughter is good for the soul.
Whether the cats knew they were bisexual, I don 't know. Even though lower animals don't seem to have any reasoning power, they do act instinctively and that is the whole point, "instinct".

My partner died nearly 23 years ago and I have not looked nor found a replacement. Thanks for your kind words. Sorry to disappoint you but I am light years away from being anything close to "interesting".

Wish you a safe journey and hope to have a few more discussions with you.
