If your spelling is an example of your English skills I'm betting anything you yell won't be in English. Instead of hanging out in a bar try an English as a second language class

You are correct, it is not funny, however, I find it disturbing that you condone stabbing someone in the abdomen as an acceptable form of expressing the way he was "feeling"? So, I guess I will #@%! off, because I think differently and don't agree with your level of stupidity.....and thats all I have to say....wink

I've never had or heard of any problems like this at "Classics" or "Scoreboards". Seems to me that this place makes the news more than the "Tiki Hut" when Fort Devens was still open.

We don't hear of problems like this at Scoreboards or Classics because the management does an excellent job keeping the scum and lowlife out of their bars. I've never felt like I was in a third world country when in Classics or Scoreboard and I never witnessed anybody urinating or vomiting in the parking lots. Hot Shotz management apparently caters to a different crowd.

In Scoreboards case, that's only because there are only 3 people there most of the time (the cook, the bartender and you)...

I am a long time friend of one of the victims. Though I never comment on any articles or buy into others comments I felt obligated to comment this time. My friend is a good person. As are some others that go to this bar. I can agree it is not the best bar in town or in the bordering towns. I myself do not choose to go there. I admit Hot Shotz has its problems. Really though does that constitute trashing people that go there or even the victims of a random act of violence. Yes, you involve liquor and you get beer muscles, but does that mean a person deserves to be injured in such a violent way, does that mean a family deserves to go thru what his family is obviously going thru. I think if we spent more time focusing on ourselves and less time online critizing perfect strangers the world would slowly become a better place. The man who did this deserves to be punished. If he was white, African American, Porta Rican or so on, he would still deserve punishment.
As for the victims...all our thoughts and prayers are with you, I wish you all speedy recoveries and the support you deserve.
Really shouldn’t we be wishing people well rather then judging perfect strangers.....really people find a better use of your time!
Thankful

As a family member of one of the victims I appreciate this comment and could not agree more. The past few days have been hell, but have brought a family and many friends closer together. It has been tough to read the news paper articles and a lot of the comments that are being posted, but I personally am just thankful that he is alive...so few are lucky to recieve a second chance and he has. It has taught me to never take anyone or anything in this world for granted.

Its not surprising that this type of incident happened at Hot Shots - it's the local magnet for trashy riffraff in the Fitchburg/Leominster area...you only have to drive by once on a weekend night to get a flavor for the clientele they attract - bikers, whores, general seedy area folks. The fact that their 'patrons' feel the need to carry knives for a night out on the town speaks volumes...perhaps the city should require the place to have a cop on duty at all times on weekend nights...it might ward off some of the trash the place attracts on a regular basis...you have to wonder why anyone would visit this place (and risk getting stabbed) when there are more attractive options - (Paisano's, On The Rocks, Mickey O'Sheas, etc...)...oh yeah, the trashy whores

Maybe next time you buy a house you should take into consideration its proximity to things like bars, factories, railroads, busy streets, firestations, etc. Did you use a realtor? I would be more angry with the realtor than the bar.(Der.) Unless, of course, you got a bargain because of the location. Hmmmm...
That is the dumbest argument I have ever heard, and it's been used before. First of all, Hot Shotz was a Chinese Restaurant for years before becoming a toilet. Many people have owned houses for years before the bar arrived.
Second, no matter what the story on when someone bought a home or what was there, nothing excuses the bad behavior and lack of courtesy that exists with many bar patrons.

Neil,

When a liquor license changes hands there is an open meeting any concened parties can attend. In fact, notices are sent to all abutters. Anyone who lived there when it was a Chinese restaurant could have attended the meeting and voiced his/her objections. Anyone who didn't live there when the bar went in chose to move in next to an existing feature.

As far as parking lot hijinks go, urination is a police matter. Call them. Vomiting could indicate they are serving intoxicated patrons, a liquor violation. Lack of courtesy, however, is not a crime or a liquor violation... just part of life, unfortunately.

Close Hot Shots,
If all the Hot Shotz customers followed your advice and went to *your* favorite bars, there would, logically, be similar problems there and those bars would be full of "trashy" people.

You have no idea and sound a bit naive...I lived near another bar, and I spent many, many hours calling police, meeting with the Mayor and Police Chief contacting the license commission and attending their meetings for the licensing and other matters, including complaints. It takes an awful lot of people making an awfully strong case for the commission to deny someone a license. One or a few concerned abutters means little. Sad but true.

The cops will do nothing until something like this happens and people get hurt, and then only because they can't ignore it. Sad fact, but the rank and file cops can't be bothered to do much.

I solved the problem. I sold my house and moved.

That's because the "rank and file" cops frequent these places too. Der.

For those who care,
All 3 victims are recovering as well as one can from this experience. May they continue to make this recovery as best as they have been.
Kindly to those who are not familiar to Sentinel & Enterprise articles, their reporters barely graduated from highschool and took the easiest way through college, if at all. Their facts have been a long time misconstrued and or even exaggerated. They have had lazy editors and thrown together stories for years now.
It is a paper and the information is always third hand by the time readers get the "facts". Let the justice system work it's way through this affair, it is not for us to decide who's guilty and who's not... and an opinion is just an opinion, not fact nor fiction.
Yet surely one can find something else better to do than fuel a fire of aggression towards others on this subject. i.e. be an advocate for in your own neighborhood/town/city for crime awareness.
We are already at war... let's keep it out of our homes and frequented places.
