Saturday March 6th was the work-day, training run day for the Thunderbolt Ski Race. What a glorious day! Temperatures in the 50s on the bottom and 40s at the top, bright blue cloudless sky!

I hiked up with Steve C.(I wouldn’t have made it without his encouragement.) The run down was intense! I crashed within 50 feet of the road, knocked the wind out of me, and thought “This is going to be a long day!” But by taking it easy and staying in control, it turned out to be a very enjoyable run down!

This is a very difficult trail, that doesn’t let up. To quote Blair M.“You pick up speed very quickly.” That is so true, and unlike groomed ski areas, there is not much space to “run out” or slow down. When I reached the finish line I was beat, and Sunday I was walking like Walter Brennen, but it was a great day…one of the best.

Let’s continue to pray for good weather on Saturday.

And Most Importantly, lets thank Blair and the rest of the crew for their tremendous amount of hard (real hard) work that they did to get the trail in such great shape. Those guys are heros to me like Greenie and Rudy and Bill L.
