im sorry for Tony's injuries, and for his parent's grief, that has resulted from this accident. with that said however, i think if youre going to give this story coverage, it would serve our fellow teenagers better - to know the full story. its not just a 'minor detail', to overlook (or not mention) the teen's physical state and/or capacity immediately before, and during the time of, the accident.

What was his physical state and or capacity before and at the time of the incident. Are you implying he was under the influence of something?

to confirm or deny any specific allegations would be in direct conflict with the terms and conditions of the use of this thread. i would only encourage the parents of this minor, who have chosen to cooperate with the media, to always disclose all pertinent information in any such case. especially if there is an opportunity for a larger message to be shared with other teens.

My family has known "little Tony" as we call him,for a long time.My heart goes out to Lisa & Tony, having a teenage boy myself. They are fearless and full of life. This is a tragedy for all who know him,so many are praying for him and his family.God bless you all.Reguardless of his physical state it does'nt change the impact or the end result.

Our Prayers and thoughts are with Lil Tony and His Family..And to say he was under the influence of something is pretty judgemental to say when u dont now what happen. Why is it some teenage kids cant go sledin when it snows, some off us wait for the snow to come just so we can go sledding and cause someone gets hurt...Oh now there under the influence.... Funny how people talk

(a) no one can be quoted as stating that this teen was, indeed, "under the influence" of anything.(b) its not judgmental, if you do know.

True however, most parents would want to know the little things as to prevent their children from suffering the same fate. It's very unfortunate he was injured.

How dare people write negative thing on this when it is concering a teenage boys life. We have known tony for quite some time and he was full of life and could stand strong through all of lifes curve balls. He's a Merlenbach-->very strong-willed family, hes fighting with everything he has, and people who dont know him and want to talk about him need to think what is the most important thing, his life or "little details"??? get some.

Head injuries no matter how it happens is life changing. I know my Husband sustained a severe head injury at work. No he was not under any influence. What matters now is the support, prayers and healing. My heart goes out to him and his family. I was there a year and 1/2 ago. This family needs support not judgement.

I agree with anonymous if by chance he was not in normal physical state this could be a lesson to other teens. It is by far a horrible tragedy and I feel for the parents and family. Dont be so quick to defend. If there are other details to this there is no changing them now, but some people obviously feel this tragedy can be used to open the eyes of other teens. No matter what his physical state was it can educate others either way! It was an accident. My prayers are with him!

My prayers are with the whole family at this time. Imperial has some really nice spots to go sledding on. Regardless of time and whether or not there was an "influence" of the ACCIDENT do you negative people insinuating whatever not believe this young man is someone's son? maybe brother? grandson? nephew? neighbor? What happened to compassion for man kind? My heart goes out to his family. As a pediatric nurse, I agree with TBI Caregiver, right now someone needs to be helping this family as a very good and strong support system. The family is going to need it! I am truely praying for the best outcome for this family and this young man. Right now I am sure his parents could use the support.

I am not in Fenton, I too live in Imperial. I don't care what that young man was doing, he was in a horrible accident. Thank God apparently someone was apparently with him, he was in an ACCIDENT. Now how many life lessons do you think a 17 or 18 year old are ready to receive and learn from? My 17 year old currently know EVERYTHING about everything.

My Nephew is laying in the hospital fighting for his life and you people have no right to say anything bad about when or what he was doing. He is 18 years old and loves life and wants to do fun things like all 18 year old kids do.This could of been your kid this happened to. Don't say nothing just pray and keep praying cause Tony will recover from this.We are a strong family and have the Faith and Hope to make this a great recovery. We will get our Tony back and he will be his great self again!
I LOVE YOU LITTLE TONY!
