"I'm comfortable here".....that comment there says it all to me, he needs to want to play here but it doesn't need to be comfortable, that mindset it what has allowed the current attitude to set in.

Is that all you read, Really? Did you not keep on reading to see that he appreciates being seen as a Top 4 guy, but wants to improve to be a Top 2? Being comfortable living in an area outside of your own, is a good thing. Adapting to a HUGE change from growing up in Canada to live in Columbus is something that not everyone can do. I have been very fortunate to meet Meth on several occasions and Columbus is very fortunate to have someone like him locked up for four more years. And besides all of this, tell me where he played as if he was complacent and didn't show motivation? He was arguably one of the more steady blueliners and was willing to lay a hit or block a shot. Congrats to you Meth and I look forward to you earning your paycheck and thanking the City of Columbus for the opportunity to play here!

The best part of this signing is that he wants to be here. This is the guy who threatened a few years ago to melt down if he was sent down to Syracuse when it was down to him and Rome.
I am a big Scott Howson fan, but once again he overpaid. I would have gambled on the arbitration for he was a +2 with 15 points and many glaring mistakes. If I was an arbitrator, I would have given him about what he made last year, maybe a little bump.
As for the comments above regarding adapting to a huge change on the move from Canada to the States - is this sarcasm? Have you ever been to Canada? It is like our 51st state only with a bad sense of style and they say "eh" instead of "huh."
Four years for Methot should have been around $9million at the most. He is a 5, 6 or 7 defensman and possibly and AHL All-Star.

Interesting, I distictly remember Methot (as reported in the dispatch, probably Porty)..... oh maybe 3 yrs. ago saying if you dont want to bring me up to the CBL and don't want to play me in Columbus then trade me...... period. Funny what 3 million a year will do to one's attitude....this B.S that Columbus is where I want to be and play is all B.S.
