The slopes are almost ready - The Park Record

Full story: Park Record

Temperatures have dropped significantly since October, allowing local ski resorts to maintain the amount of snow they received in the first snow fall while also allowing them to create new snow.

The Canyons is 9 days from opening and it has 4 new runs and a new lift and no one knows it's name or location? Did anyone not notice the equipment to build these things? I'm thinking there kind of big and noisy and kind of hard to miss.

You would think if they (the Canyons) are adding a new chair and new runs they would be smart enough to make a big deal out of it and advertise it like crazy on their website. Seems like they run their marketing dept. like a 1st grader.

The new lift is probably the Frostwood Gondola that they finsihed last year, but never opened since Dakota was not finished. It really should not count in this year's stats since the only people that use it are hotel guests.

Nope . . I was wrong. . . just looked at the online map. New lift serves Colony residents (and that looks like where the new runs are located).

yeah, it's a strictly colony lift that they hired out the canyons crew to take care of.
