If it's so very easy to kill oneself or suffer severe, life-threatening injury merely for competitive sport that it has become a casual side-effect, there's something very wrong within a society that warrants "EXTREME" sports...

this guy was a gifted athlete, with a zest for life. it's amazing to watch his skills and daring endeavors. he perished doing most likely what he loved most. my condolences to his family and friends and fellow extreme sport's enthusiasts.

Or, you could sit around at home on your couch, never take any chances, never do anything that involved any risk, and call that a life. These people know the risks inherent in these activities and accept them. Your tongue clicking and general smugness don't help this persons family and friends, who are no doubt sad that he is gone, but probably at least have the satisfaction of knowing he died challenging himself and doing something he seems to have loved very much.

Please have a little compassion. I had the chance to ski with John (although not jumping off cliffs). He was a true gentleman and does not deserve the negative comments. These guys just have something in them that drives them to do it. He loved what he was doing.

My sincere condolences to the family and all his loved ones.

I'm very sad to hear again that another nice and talented freeskier died again, it seems that april 11 is a bad day number. In Switzerland, we say, never 2 without 3, hope it will not happen again next year. My prayers goes to John's family and friends and also a thought for Neal Valiton. RIP guys !
