I love this show. Although my wife loves reality shows its never been a format I'm interested in, that is until Shark Tank. The first reality TV show I like.

It's not as good as the Canadian version (Dragon's Den) which also stars 2 of the 5 "Sharks" but I hope it continues this fall.

I think this show is fantastic. Btw Kevin and Robert are Canadian and they took this show from Canada "Dragons Den" to the USA ;). Funny they are also the most interesting and animated hmm......

They brag about "the great deals" they got a company for. They have no intention of helping.
The entire intention of Venture Capital is to get as much of a company as they can, control it, fund it, let it bleed, take it over. How do I know? I was in the industry back in the 80s, and still continue to rescue people from both sides of it.

Barbara Corcoran tweeted today:

"Whirlwind day today working on getting my new little businesses from shark tank put to bed! Easy to buy them, much harder to build them."

Buy? Some one who had good intentions would probably say "invest in". She had plenty of characters left over.

There are no business lessons here.
The contestants constantly give up more than they need to. The Sharks take advantage of people who are desparate. There are much better alternatives.

I rate this show a giant Smelly Fish.
Moreover, what's to love about the show? It's the same thing week after week.....

Mindless television.

March out contestants for a show (topic doesn't matter), contestant has their say. Judge says yay or nay. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Here's some daunting truth about Shark Tank.

It's not likely to last.....

(Ratings shrink: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/09/16/rat... )

I see that they've moved it to Tuesday to try and resuscitate it.

But at just 11% of all viewers, it's not likely that a new show will survive with those numbers. They are showing repeats already. That is not the greatest sign.

Some very good points. As someone who used to be in venture capitalism and still helps both sides, what are the better alternatives you suggest?

I hope it doesn't seem like I am trying to squeeze free advice, but I was a semi-finalist for this show for my company Countdown Apparel. I'm curious and interested to learn what could be better than a reality show that offers you a chance at achieving your dreams? Yes, it's a lot to give up but what if you are out of other options: no money, no help, nothing.

Thoughts?
I'm sincerely curious and would love to hear from you.

I am hooked. I love the show and I hope that abc never pulls the show off the air. One suggestion being an entrprenuer myself and seeing opportunities in the internet, I think that the producers should ask business owners and want to be business owners to make viral videos and post them on their shark tank website and or play in the show. Kind of like the american idol effect.

Just a suggestion that would open the show to a even large audience. THE INTERNET!

And for the idea I only want 51% of the business!(lol)

Great show, inspires idea minded people and gives you a look at what you may face in getting your product out there. Looking forward to next season.
