The good news is data theft supports consumer spending. Without data theft our economy would be floundering, so no one does anything about it.

Isn't it great that so much time/effort is put forth by record companies trying to sue people for downloading music, yet these huge credit card people could care less when an identity is stolen and thousands of dollars is illegally charged to somebody. When notified they shrug it off and make the victim jump through hoops to restore their good standing. Trust me, I know first hand how they deal with these things.

The downfall of American Civilization will be traced back to the the invention of the computer. Bem Laden communicates by camel messengers and can't be found. We communicate electronically and our identity is stolen. What for the time we need our missile defense system and find out an 8 year old in China hacked into our system and made it useless.

Identity Theft is expected to increase 20 fold in the next year according to the Federal Trade Commission, there is not much that can be done about it unless you have a proactive system working for you. I have such a system (stopped 3 credit cards and one real estate purchase)if you would like more info, drop me a line at [email protected]
