Lexus Lanes; the only people that can afford em are the Legislators like Paula Dockery that shot down commuter rail. Thanks Paula Dockery. Waive to the poor working class as you drive by in the Lexus Lane. Central Florida certainly should reap what it has sewn; more congested highways, more cars, and more politicians like Paula Dockery

At least there is one benefit to global warming, Miami should be completely underwater in a few short decades.

The Florida voters wanted and voted for a rail system to be built under Jeb Bush.. But he said NO.. Coming from an oil company family I wonder why? Less cars on the road and people not driving those Big SUV's his Brother George gave taxs brakes on for buying. Florida Voters want a rail system, that would ease traffic. But it wouldn't line thier pockets with gold. The developers, Contractor, and realestate only care about the quick buck.. never looking into the future only looking as far as thier next deposit in the bank and how much is thiers to keep. So State wide Roads are never made wide enough or with enough lanes to handle the traffic.. Now just think for a minute. If Florida's State Government did what the voters wanted 6 years ago and built the rail system we voted for would this idiots plan for HOV lanes be on the table? I think not... What we really need in this state is acountability... If any elected offical overrides the peoples wishes in this state make them acountable.. If you mess up at your job you get the boot. a whole group of people on this one should start looking for a new job. idiots all of them, and us too for letting them go unchecked

Loyal Reader Still wrote: Sorry for the confusion. To clarify, federal law prohibits toll lanes on I-4 in Orange and Seminole Counties. Prior to that, the state was considering a plan to add 2 additional express lanes to I-4 that would be tolled (only those two lanes) and paid for with the tolls. With the new law, those plans were scrapped. Wow! Thank you for the clarification. That almost makes this seem like a forum! That's a first for me!!

I hate driving in the Miami area, in fact, south of PGA Blvd you start seeing the aggresive drivers where it's all about them.

where is the revenue from this idiotic idea going?
someone please correct me - will it be cheaper to drive on the turnpike than on this "express" lane?
will this "special" lane cost more than a gallon of gas if i drive from miami to fort lauderdale?
i guess we just won the darwin award, huh?

yes, we need public transportation equivalent to new york or boston, so when the FDOT attempts to shove crap down our throats we can park our cars and show them we do matter......

The FDOT doesn't listen to morons on the internet, they study how the traffic flows, and the safety aspects.
Having done that, they will obviously conclude that the experiment is a GREAT success, except for the HORRIBLE drivers, who exist either way. like most modern and maturing cities this will be here to stay.
and the fact that there were a couple fender benders the first week will play NO FACTOR in the decision-making.
FINALLY make these losers PAY for the roads they drive on.

Unfortunately we live in a state that makes all sorts of laws and never enforces any..... We already have laws in effect that state left lanes are for passing but have you ever seen it enforced. If it was we wouldn't need the same law prohibiting trucks from left lanes as that's the biggest farce ever, those trucks move much quicker than the average quirk here in Florida as they drive for a living not just get in a vehicle and wander the highway with their cell phone in their ear Redogg wrote: How does reducing the number of available lanes and jamming most of the traffic into less lanes ease congestion? This does not even come close to making sense. Passing a law keeping slow drivers and those not passing out of the left lane would make a world of difference on our highways.

We have laws about radio noise--never enforced We have laws about modified exhaust systems--never enforced. As you pointed out, we have laws about 'slower traffic keep right'--never enforced. We have laws about parking on non-paved surfaces--never enforced. We could go on and on.

While I don't think the HOT lanes are a good idea either, but neither is adding more lanes sadly. <quoted text> You actually have a degree in traffic patterns? I-4 runs East and West, go with the flow here. Does your Urban Transportion book tell you that we could fire everyone that works for the toll agencies, sell their enormous administration building, tear down the toll booths that only slow traffic, and use the money to build more roads or a mass transit system? Does it? Mine does.
