Hoet looked shaky. Havlat was our best player on the ice today. Hope Hawks keep him. Wings are better than the Hawks at ths time. As was the case with San Jose, we cannot afford stupid penalties against these two teams.

I miss the pleasure of a daily Bob Verdi column. Glad he weighed in on the Hawks today. And, not surprisingly, Verdi's right on the money. Happy New Year, Bob!

Oh Mr. Verdi, we miss quality writing like this. Please stop in at the United Center often. Your eloquent beautiful prose are art despite the disphoria in recent years in Hawkland which you illustrate..

Right, the Red Wings have such depth and talent-they can let the Young Hawks burn out and then they dominate games. The Hawks need to make a trade for a veteran or wait for the off season to acquire a free agent or two to be truly competitive with the Red Wings. But they have come a long way this season anyway.

Good article.. I think alot of us thought that perhaps the Hawks might be about ready to unseat the Red Wings. Especially coming into this home and home with a 9 game win streak. Unfortunately, we were definitely brought back to reality, but i also remember a time when M.J. and the Bulls had gotten to the point where they were really good, yet couldn't get past the Pistons. Then we all know what happened once the Bulls realized the Pistons weren't invincible, so let's hold out hope that in the next season or two the Hawks follow the same route the Bulls traveled back in the early 90's. And, i won't even get greedy by demanding 6 titles.

Four years but here you go:
Ted Damata (my dad) passed away May 23, 1988. There's a wonderful article about him by Bob Verdi. You can get it via Google of the Chicago Tribune.
I occasionally Google my dad's name to see what on the web about him. Things get added once and a while.
Nice to know he's missed.

Ted Damata, my great-grandfather, passed away in 1988. He was inducted into the NHL hall of fame in '84 and is still honored and remembered by his family
