Why don't you instead spend some time and get rid of the bad stuff instead of once again punishing everyone for the ills of some, too much of that going on in this country already

It was a stupid idea to attract a bunch of kids of all ages to an unsupervised facility and then call the police when things got loud. The parents were supposed to police the park on the theory of, "Who else is going to do it?" If you can't be bothered to do things right, please don't do it at all.

Loud music? Golly. Round them up and hang 'em. Surely they're no good if they play loud music.

Can't control everybody. Too bad for those who wanted to skate. Goes to show that a few ruined it for everyone.

After property taxes were cut, the infrastructure took a hit...and parks and recreation was among the most seriously affected agencies in any larger county. Maybe residents should have adopted the park and mounted a neighborhood watch program to protect kids and the property itself.

let's float another 100 million dollar park bond issue so we can have supervision at the parks.

This park is in a large populated area and at a major intersection for Coconut Creek. It sounds to me like the police didn't have sufficient patrols. If they knew there were problems in that area, why didn't they step up patrols?

So when the same people who probably weren't there to skate to begin with start hanging out at the playground they are going to build in place of the skatepark is the city going to go and replace the playground with something else? Nope. This was just an excuse to single out a certain group of kids. Now they kids are going to just skate in the publix shopping center across the street and *shockingly* get fined, hassled, harassed and eventually a police officer will be called to get rid of them. Something they could have done to the bad element to begin with.

I CARE! We all complain that kids don't get enough exercise these days. Usually it's because they're inside, playing video games(most teach violence quite well). Now because a few bad apples are ALLOWED to ruin a good thing, our leaders decide to spend more money to change things supposedly for the better! Do you think a park is going to stop the teenage hangout and drug scene?

I think you may have a point there.
They cured the symptoms not the problem.
This will not stop anybody from skateboarding.

You people bitch about this, but it was YOUR kids doing it.
They had a park to go to, all they had to do was behave.
You parents seem to just want your kids to go out, but you don't want to control them.
This place attracted punks, that's all it did.
If you parents want a place for your kids to go, then you should have gone with them.
Maybe if there was more adult supervision, instead of your little punks on their own causing trouble, maybe the park would still be open.
Too bad, now the little kids will have a chance...maybe this time you will go to the park with them and make sure the new little punks aren't causing trouble too.

We are afraid of hooligans. We want our pensions and more pay but don't ask us to deal with hooligans or toughs. We'll prey on the public with traffic tickets and make your life miserable but don't expect us to deal with gang members and criminals - that's not our job!
