You make some very good points which I didn't think about. I'm willing to open my heart a little for this guy. Beyond a higher level of intelligence, let's also remember that nhl players are much more accessible than players of the other sports. There are also a lower percentage of "bad apples" in the nhl than the other sports. That alone probably is an indication of the higher level of intelligence among nhl players.

That's because they typically have to go through prep schools to play high level hockey in HS. Many also spend time in top universities for more than 1 year.

Or you can play basketball and leave after your junior year of HS even though you "can't read good"
