Of course you don't. I'm not surprised.
Fixed how? Like, fixed because LVPA isn't invited? Get over yourselves already.

My daughter skates but it too young to attend this school, but I hope that it will still be around when she gets to HS. For someone going to this school their parents as taxpayers are paying full taxes to the school district with only a percentage of those taxes going to the charter school. Does anyone ever consider the cost per student associated in school sponsored sports such as Cheerleading, Football, Hockey, Tennis, etc. Do you think the majority of those kids are going to go on and be professionals? The attendance in the skating program may be low, but that just shows how unique the sport is and that not everyone is capable of doing it. These kids have a much better chance of making a profession from their sport then most kids. Good skate coaches can make alot of $$$. Maybe if the public school would sponsor in-house figure skating programs then we wouldn't need a specialized charter school. And don't think these kids are getting some kind of free ride. Most of these kids are at the rink after school on their own time and their parents pay out a lot of money for testing, skates, lessons, club fees, ice time, etc. They work harder and have more dedication than most kids I have ever met and deserve the chance for their dreams to come true.

A ridiculous waste of our tax money. BASD, on Jan 26, is proposing a measure that would force local sports programs for ALL our school districts kids into paying for time to use OUR GYMS that WE pay for with taxes in the first place. Our kids are also going without adequate bus service to various trips and there are rumors of reducing bus service further. All the while this select group of families gets free ice skating lessons instead of learning subjects that would actually get their kids jobs.
Dr Lewis, maybe you need a new job?
Who ever wrote this needs to get there facts straight figure skaters get the same amount of education as if ur child was in a public school so before u go telling dr. Lewis to get a new job u might want to get ur facts straight !!!! Back off

Any art program in a school is not a necessity! You could take private skating lessons on your own time., just as much as a dancer or musician takes private lessons outside of school.
Look, skating is extremely expensive and most of us who skate at lvpa can't afford it. Private lessons cost thousands of dollars per year and competing costs even more. Buying our skates is a huge expense as well because we have to replace both the boot and the blade and every time you replace both it's also in the thousand range. We can't skate on broken down boots and blades, and boots brake down fast if you skate seriously. Not even just paying for coaching and skates, you also have to pay for ice time, and it's not like you can rent the ice all for yourself because that costs a lot of money too, and to do that everyday would be impossible. This program gives us an opportunity that no other place does, and for a lot of us, yes it is a necessity because we have no where else to go. We recently took a poll, and all except three of the upper classmen this year said that they wouldn't be able to skate without this program. Just like the musicians at this school are here to get better and have great opportunities, we are here too and deserve just as much as they do. The musicians are in the same boat the skaters are in so don't you dare go whining about something you don't have knowledge about and don't go comparing two different arts. For us, skating is our passion and that's a necessity for us, maybe not for you but it is for us, without it who knows where we would be.

Seriously!! What a disgrace. I've heard horrible things about this school. It's a shame it's siphoning money from our high schools that so badly need it.
Hi, yeah, let's get something straight. Our school only gets part of the money put aside to educate the students going to LVPA, and the only money we get is the money set aside for the students that go to LVPA. We aren't taking money from anyone, it's the money meant for our education, it's our money. My school is pretty much broke, we have a budget of about 0, and our test score are the highest in the lehigh valley. We need the money meant for our education, it's our decision where we go, not yours.
