that place is a circus anymore. i just go to hatfield now since they couldnt get a mens league in there for the summer. does this new mr know it all ever hear about it, or does he just continue to lie and SPIN everything. you are not better then anyone using your "my reputation speaks for itself". down here by me there were enough bad stories going around at his so called church camp. lol, nice reputation. since it is a circus, maybe they should have one in there. put the desk jockey who does his baseball job in the ice rink in a dunk tank or throw pies at him.......... you could pull in a ton of money. i also heard what happened with the ms tourney, which i am playing in also. what a POS to talk to customers like he has. the owners either dont care or just believe the bs he feeds them. please sell the place for what it really is WORTH!!! PLEASE. also, that auction was a joke.... put a reasonable price as a minimum next time.

I was at your rink, it was great. Sorry to hear that the owners suck and don't care. Be careful with your team money. Since this rink is on it last legs you should not pay for the season ahead of time, just month by month. I've heard of a rink where they openned, got the big flood of hockey season money, then shut down. Good luck getting any money back!

please dont put him in a dunk tank. the spinmaster already combs his hair enough in front of customers********** LICE???? and is it true that his wife doesnt even work there? i see she has her own office to. maybe she desnt want to be in the same one as him. i also thought she was running the snack bar since they paid to get her certified, but yet now it is leased out. so the rink has paid for that and also i agree those new outfits are hilarious. and im sure it was cheap to paint the ice in the rink. keep on spinning & spending & bs'ing the customers. if i find out that the above comment is true about his man boy camp, i will be calling the appropiate people to make sure my children are not skating at a place where the liced gm is hiring anyone he can, regardless of there background. didn't the rink used to be a fun time. if LV rink gets there sh!* together, i absolutely will leave bethlehem, or better yet put them in another sport.

To: Been to the rink, your point is well taken, since most teams / leagues are required to pay their full amount by October for the year. If the rink folds in early October the 5 months that you would have left are gone and if you can get ice time some where else you will be paying for another half season of play just to finish the year.

haha, here is a perfect example. in the spring, when there was at least some form of a mens league, we were in the locker room changing for our game. we came out, and what did we see, but the zamboni stuck in the middle of the ice with the tires spinning and snow all ovr under the machine. he was some spanish / mexican kid who was being paid minimal money to do a job he was never trained for, and he told us this. he said he gets paid minimum wage to mop and do the garbage. i guess the clown just thought , actually with no thought, to put him on a zam.THIS IS THE TRUTH! due to the fact the STUDDED tires dug unbelievable ruts in the ice and we could not skate until we pushed the zamboni off the ice on unsafe conditions. we actually just asked him not to even try and cut the ice so we could skate on just regular bad uncut ice. i REPEAT, he said he was never properly trained. shall i repeat that again? mr farmer, this is not your lil flower greenhouse where you can hire cheap labor to make your buck. once again mr farmer, you have your buddy, an unqualified rink gm, who is responsible for these things, yet nothing is done since he is your pal. the above comments on him spinning everything are so true. nice summer league, nice ms tourney along with your lying excuses. i'd pay a bundle to hear the @$%! that comes out of his mouth as an excuse.

Here's the current summary:
Don't give a *hit WRT the customers crew - The farmer, his son and the other investors.
Clueless & unskilled - GM Clyde, the ops guy and most of the staff. How's that PA state required food handling certification coming?
Don't have a pair - Blast, Lehigh and all of the other hockey orgs that have not brought the issues of poor / unsafe conditions to management for a decision. I also include the figure skating staff that some how is OK with all of the actions at the rink.
Dazed & confussed - this would be the skating public that is coming to an unsafe rink and has no clue of what type of poor service awaits them.
Is there a pool going for the date of the rink closure? Put me down for Sept 25th.
Note to Clyde: a amazed that a man of your proported high moral character would behave in such a manner.
One solution may be to picket but not the rink but in front of the farmers flower stand. Maybe he'd start to fix the rink problems then.

Interesting read. When I last played at the rink every thing was good, but this was at the start. It's amazing how bad management can change every thing. The comment on closing and taking the money has happened at other rinks, so be aware.
Now that you have lost Zamboni Mike the ice is in big trouble. When the 2nd rink has it's ice remade I hope they get it right without him. Good Luck.
How are all of the other things going on at the rink? We need more info on this blog.

How are all of the other things going on at the rink? We need more info on this blog.
Well, to start, since no one in there knew how to bring a rink back up and do the lines and logos since ZM left, they PAID an outside group to come in and do it. They also paid for new giant exit signs, new uniforms, and a supply of combs. I skated on Friday mornings, and since ZM left, and the untrained, unqualified drivers began there, the ice became a joke along with the service. Is ZM to blame for the rink losing money???????? definitely not, but i'm sure the comber spins it to his sidekick farmer. I agree with the above. SELL and get the baseball worker out of the ice rink. That explains the keep out sign on his door! SPIN like a top.

Maybe the large "EXIT" signs at the rink are a foreshadowing of what all of the skaters should do - exit the rink until the management / ownership changes.
Is any one concerned with safety at the rink? Since no one is trained on the refrigeration (compressor) system what will happen if there is a leak? All of us who skated at the Palace were in constant fear of the compressor system leaking.
So GM Clyde what is the emergency plan? To yell "Run, RUN!". I'm sure the insurance company and the lawyers for those hurt will accept this as being an OK plan.
We need to get all of those who use the rink to understand what is happening and how this is related to their safety.

haha. emergency plan? his emergency plan would be to call the guy from the Exton rink who is consulting him now on how to run a rink. what a joke that place is. i would love to hear his blabber mouth remarks on himself and his 2nd unqualified op's guy. one of the guys on our team plays with one of the Exton employees and told me that the steel ice drivers are all going to Exton to learn how to drive a zam. you would think in a recreational facility that the gm and operations guy would at least know how to do these things. The farmer must be losing it. even funnier is the exton kid told us his boss is also being asked to run the programs because neither the baseball guy or his new hires have ZERO knowledge. sure is alot of money being spent, but the spinmaster is on it. and this is TRUE! and by the way, your new ice really isnt that good. but that is what happens when you have people with positions who must absolutely have knowledge of everything, yet no ZERO. tell the public what you had to pay because rink specialists are not cheap. they painted the exton rink one year and we all got to meet them. the new gm is an arrogant POS who actually has done nothing but chase people from the rink. and ROBS DOG IS STILL THERE. what a tool, and i am glad to see people still writing there thoughts here since the owners dont give 2 sh!** about the rink. and to think it is not even remotely busy yet, but again they no nothing. the poor blast.

When the Blast get into the season and realize that they pay TOP dollar for the worst ice and service the s**t will hit the fan. I can't wait until a ref refuses to start a game because of poor ice quality. This should be a good one.
Also the Exton rink has its problems. They are no wealth of ice knowledge. There are other people in the valley that really know how to run the rink but they NEVER will be called by the owners.
Why does Clyde or any one else still have their jobs at the rink? I guess it will take a major f*** up by the rink staff, costing big money, before they get the point. I hope it does not hurt any one.
Farmer Dan and Tommy, how's your rink working for you now? You are the men!

history: jack was bad, jim got fired by the group(ed)he brought in, zam mike quit. i skate there and am a friend of the son of the farmer, ask mike who helped him most out of all people at the rink. ex-ref(jack)just bitter cause you lost your job, tommy hasn't been there because of mike situation and no one cares if the owners make it or not, just so they have someplace to skate my fellow skaters and i should be happy the owners keep putting money in, and keep repairing things. nobody liked jim or jack when they were there, or ed, or mike l. or mike h. they could put gretzky in there and people would still complain i skated today and the ice was good. tommy always said they didn't want to run it, just to own it. they keep trying different things maybe as you guys suggest they should give up, but i'm not telling my friend that. some new group might not put up with losses and negative employees.

To "Friend" - keep on drinking the Tommy Kool-Aid. Tommy is a lost soul. Jack and Jimmy were well liked by a wide group of people, the Schantz's made it a poor place to work for anyone, with the possible exception of Mike H.
I'm not sure where you get your info. The rink has gone down since Jack and Jimmy left. I've been to the rink and asked men's league guys - that is the feeling.
Stop drinking the Tommy Kool-Aid and wake up, "Friend". The rink needs to return to those who care. The people there now and owners are not the ones to continue with the operation.

The improvements to the Whitehall rinks will result in Rich P. getting more people / teams to come to his rink. The slide continues for the SIC.
As I saw in earlier post, I wonder if it wise to pay up front for all of your ice or go month-to-month? A good question for the big ice users.
