Full story: TwinCities.com

Puck control, tight goaltending and discipline are hallmarks of any winning hockey team, however the Minnesota Gophers showed none of that Sunday night and remain a losing club because of it.

Lucia has got to go. He has an excuse for his team's woes every week as if he were handed this group when in fact this is the team he assembled. They're his recruits that suck as bad as this team does. He can have just about anyone he wants and he consistently puts together a bunch of prima donnas who have never had to go in the corner for a puck or work hard because they have always been pampered and allowed to do anything they want by their former coaches. They are the guys that go out and cough up the puck and somebody else gets yelled at for it. I'm pretty sure Lucia was that kind of player and a team takes on the personality of their coach. Lucia is soft and too arrogant to know how to put together a team. I'm pretty sure Hastings saw figured this out early on and knew this was not a place he wanted to be. After Lucia gets done giving his kid more ice than he deserves, making him captain, and giving him awards at the end of the season banquet, he can step down because he is not a winner. He is a joke and has this team in as bad a shape as Woog had it when he left.

It's all about recruiting and coaching. It would be great, if every Minnesota kid, got the chance to play in the WCHA. This of course isn't the case and Canadians help fill the roosters. Teams have an added problem of players being drafted,so it isn't always prudent to recruit hotshots who will be taken by the NHL before graduation. I say Minnesota colleges would be better served if local kids were given more of a chance when recruiting.

Not sure how Lucia can keep getting away with having below average teams! He get the pick of the top kids and still can't win. I think the media should take its focus off Brewster and focus on Lucia.

Fire them both! They are worthless and very overpaid.

It's nice, perhaps great, to have a bunch of first round future NHLers on your roster, but i believe the UM needs to go after kids that are committed to staying 4 years for the education and the hockey. Let UND, UW and all the rest have the prestige of having the one and dones. Perhaps the next coach will take that attitude and the UM will rejoin the hockey elite

Way to go Beavers. It's always nice to see arrogance take a hit.

Yes, congrats to the Beavers. But, I think Minnesota has lost quite a bit of their arrogance already (and if they haven't, they should). Very few of their players are left from the last decent team that MN had in the 2006-07 season. This year (so far) and the previous two seasons have been a disgrace for the Gophers program. If Lucia can't turn it around quickly, then he has got to go before all of the luster is gone.
