Barrett reflects on past 26 years

Mayor John Barrett III's office is full of memories from his 26 years at the helm of the city - a pair of cufflinks from the late U.S. Rep.

John never figured out politics has as much to do with people as it does with anything else.

Once an election came about that was not a "tough guy" contest, he got his butt kicked.

you were the best candidate by far in this election. you easily won all the debates. the only reason your opponent won is simply beause he has a famous name! if his name was richard gleason instead of richard alcombright his candiacy would have been a fluke joke. thanks dad, is what mr. alcombright should be saying right now. frankly i was horrified to find out that mr. alcombright actually supports charter schools that cost the north adams public school system over 1.5 million dollars a year! the only thing that charter schools do for north adams is suck alot of money from our city, so instead of the state giving this money to our school system it has to go to some charter school. and this is what mr. daniel richard alcombright wants! unbeleiveable!

mayor barrett has been the greatest mayor that this state has ever seen. his contacts on the state and national level, and his unparalled accomplishments prove this. now maybe mr. alcombright can ask for and learn alot more about our city budget rather than only ask his two frivolous questions during the long process of passing our annual city budget. oh yea, we all have to remember and thank the late great danny alcombright for unknowingly letting his son capitalize on his famous name, for without it richard alcombright would have never won this election!

Barrett needed to be out of office long ago. He did some good things I'll give him that, but he was a pompus douche and that last quote in the article is laughable coming from him. He thought he was the Tsar of North Adams.
