C'mon Souch; you darned well know this guy didn't stand a chance. From your description and from what he said, he sounds like he has some common sense; some direction; some purpose; and may be effective in making improvements in areas that conservatives would think it important to do so. That's all at odds with the current public school system. They couldn't scratch his name off the list fast enough.

What list? There is no "real" list. Mr Bezek's policies have nothing to do with it. The cabal at 360 Colborne has already signaled its choice and Dr Henton and Dr Hopson aren't favored either. It is so obvious they want Ms Silva, I'm surprised her name isn't up in neon at 360.

I don't know if having a Harley biker running the schools is the kind of diversity we need. BTW: There's a new slang word for Harley riders. Check out a recent Southpark episode.

A Harley rider is a precursor to education as to wearing black socks pulled up to your knees wearing shorts for the sexy look. Soucheray is a doofus!

Margie, you sure got it right. The ones in power at 360 on the 5th floor are putting in the midnight oil on this one. Their very jobs are on the line and they will do everything in their power to push Silva at all costs. You only have to look at what has been posted on TOPIX over the past few days. Both Dr. Henton or Dr. Hopson would make great superintendents of St. Paul, but they don't have a chance because the powers that be on the 5th floor at 360 want Silva to protect their jobs. Silva will get the position and we will have more of the same. Change is needed so badly in SPPS. The culture at 360 on the 5th floor has become so negative, so vindictive and toxic and Silva is just one of the crew. I have worked for SPPS for over 20+ years and this troubles me greatly. You are correct the choice has already been made. I have heard school board members talk, it is a done deal.

Ditto to Wheels & Margie. But shockingly, I actually agree w/Soucheray's choice for the best of the semifinalist candidate pool, just not for the same reasons. But let us put the blame where it is truly due for the mess we find ourselves in: this horrific school board. And it is clear the newcomers will be "same old same old" network. Both are insiders with the current SPPS managment troika of board, 360, SPFT. I don't see improvements on the horizon for SPPS. Quite the opposite. Apparently, we have yet to hit bottom.

If she gets to be superintendent, the 5th floor will empty faster than a sample tray at Cub. As is said on the show,'good luck.'

All of us who witnessed the collapse of our manufacturing base during the 1980s Rust Belt days know what rock-bottom can be in St Paul. And by the lack of voter interest expressed last election, we also know citizen involvement, esp in SPPS board elections, is at its all-time lowest. No wonder the board has little respect for the voters of St Paul. And they have little regard for us folks who have to deal with the Ramsey County Assessor, either.

Actually, if several floors at 360 were shown the window exits, it would be A Good Thing. I don't know that anyone would mourn the loss of the crack Human Resources division under the stellar leadership of Carstarphen appointee T. Rogers, eh?

And let's not forget 1930 under the Cartstarphen regime too...her ed tech Katrina guru has now completely disappeared the school libraries from ed tech division!
WTH! Achievement gap? What achievement gap? We don't need no steeenkin' libraries or books either! Just give the teachers these boxes of curriculum with the corporate logo and send them all to the computer labs that don't work because the principals refuse to fight for the building techs...

Sorry Joe but your common sense pick did not make it. I think we all knew that the school board would eventually pick a "Floater" and that they will go thru this same process in 3-4 years.

Well at least you folks are not being judgemental about people that ride Harley's. Way to keep an open mind and be inclusive of others different from yourselves.
