The Maui Film Festival is so much better than the Hawaii International Film Festival. The venue in Wailea is world class.

HIFF is not the great festival it was several years ago. The selection of films last year was dismal.

Yes! When NIFF eliminated the four Hawaiian Panoramas it the right to call itself a truly Hawaiian Film Festival. As well as a potential $16K in revenue.

Well this is a great opportunity to get back to script work on Moby Dick versus Jaws the hundred million dollar spectacular being developed for filming in Hawii as soon as the financing is nailed down.

The first thing we need to clarify is the character of Quint who of course was consumed by Jaws in the original movie. This Quint is the original Quint's grandson even though he will be referenced like he is the original for this movies purposes. That of course will include him having gone through the Indianapolis tragedy at the end of WW2. Through mystic channeling and sublime introspection this Quint the third will come to believe and will even act like he is the original Quint.

As for Moby who entered this movie from the trenchant posting to an earlier message board by a Star-Bulletin online reader, his role is as central to the movies marrow as Lincoln was to the civil war. He enters from Mr. Melville's classic book as an angst ridden outrider on the panoply of histories discordant ironies. He is at once charismatic, petulant, and cosmic as he evolves into rescuer, redeemer, and conscience of the vast realms of the oceans blue.

Give me a break! The big blubberball as superman? You have got to be kidding! Wait till I get my first toothy chomp out of the swimming titan. Then we'll see how big a floss bill can be and also how the great white leviathan deals with adversity. By the way my agent say's Eddie Murphy is very interested in being in this extravaganza. Eddie sees it as a bridge between SNL and A Clockwork Orange. He only wishes Kubrick was still alive to direct it. He is very happy to have Eastwood on board however, and I'm very happy to see the Pale Rider running things too.

Well Jaws is running wild, so what else is new.? We need a steady state economic system for humankind to live with so they will stop killing whales for convenient food. The whale world has this wonderful communications abstract. We believe that eventually all life forms will be of both spirit and physical form with the ability to go back and forth at will and to change to a different species and back again also at will. Space flight around the Universe will be as common as a trip to the corner grocery store, and just about as fast. This wondrous age will be coming soon and it will be more wonderful than anyone can imagine. All your deceased love ones will be back and all adults will be 25 years old forever. You could be a whale one day, an eagle the next, and a human the next.

In the mystic woods, in the oceans deep, in the valleys wide and the mountains high, the wind is beginning to move with a subtle breeze. We cannot see the wind but when it brushes our cheeks we believe it exists. There is something to this idea of a transformation. Only as the eagles fly does the wind reveal it's time. Look not for the messenger for it is not the messenger who is important. For we are all ultimately messengers.

Oh great, the big blubberball thinks he has a message for everybody. I'm going to channel the spirits of Mr. Harriman and Mr. Anderson and really find out what's going on here. Yes those were clues. Moby keeps hinting that TF is Midway.I wish the big blubber pile would just say what he means and get this movie underway. I can only take so much melodrama and I'm calling my agent again! Mike said to tell you hi Alice.

On the shark chasing boat Dryfuss is getting impatient with the convoluted love triangle, the concern over Jaws and the seeming inability of some of the most capable shark fighters in the world to come up with a competent linear strategy for either capturing or taking out the marauding people chomper. He thinks back to his college days and the battle with Jaws grandfather, how it had been like a test of both character and brawn. Now he knew he had the internal forbearance to succeed with this new menace but was it even remotely rational to try and capture this version of Jaws for both research and a possible tourist attraction?

Meanwhile this 60 ton great white, the biggest of his type by far ever seen began to head for Honolulu from his Midway lair. The big shark boat was positioned to intercept, and Moby was also waiting for another rondezvous with destiny not unlike the titanc struggle with the relentless and complexly charactered Ahab and his wavering minions. Moby had won that battle and he was confident he could prevail here. He had destroyed the myth of the superman and now he would slay both the myth and the legend as well as the physical being of this gigantic shark.
