Full story: cbs4.com

Is there such a thing as a real witch? Witchcraft is actually a religion called Wicca and just how many believers are present in South Florida may surprise many.

I am a fairly new practicing pagan/Wicca. What I am most impressed by this religion is that we are not pregidous of others we accept peoples right to think and believe how they want to

Not all witches are Wiccan. This is an evolving area of spirituality and of late, witch has been uesd to identify more than Wicca. Some are practitioners of magic but not of Wiccan spirtuality.

Mabey I'm just too jaded, but these wiccans sound a little silly to me. Roaming around in grave yards looking for floating balls of light? OooooooKay. Whatever floats your boat, just don't expect people to take you too seriously if you do this kind of thing in public.

No offence to cbs4.com , but they might want to do a bit more research before making quotes like: Witchcraft is actually a religion called Wicca. First of all witchcraft is a way of life and beneath that are the many different forms of religions, wicca beeing only one of them. Just like it is within the christianitiy and many other ways of life. Also just because one is a ghost hunter or someone who seeks guidance from a wiccan in finding contact with the undead in any form or what ever there reason may be, does not make them a witch or a wiccan in any way, nor does that mean that all those that follow the path of magic, perform practices like the wiccan in the article did. Just like the rest of the world, walkers of the path of magic, live the majority of there life the same like any other human beeing, the only difference beeing ones god/s/des, the prayers to ones god/s/des and everything that evolves around the path of life one has choosen. People should remember this before passing judgement on other ways of life, for in the end are we not all human.

I wouldn't worry about offendeing CBS4. Thier article really sucks if you ask me.

Witchcraft is just that- a craft. Which may or may not be practiced within the context of a religion.

i'm wiccan and i dont even do that... but you are refering to the orbs of light which usually are encountered when a spirit is present especially an old spirit.. you cant possibly tell me you dont believe in spirits, even christians believe in that

The bible had other ghosts in it FYI. Read your good book and you'll see.

And for those christians that think all witches consort with spirits....well I am terrified of ghosts LOL.

When you say, "good book" I assume you are being sarcastic. Can you tell me something in the Bible that isn't good? Something that does't teach about spreading love for self and each other?

???? The Bible is one of the most violent stories ever written. There was always war being waged, people being raped, killed, enslaved or whatever. Jesus taught love and acceptance, but the Gospels are only a small part of a larger book.

The Gospels were written because people were misinterpreting the Old Testement. Let me re-phrase my question....What in the New Testiment is not good?

Yes, there is certainly a different tone between the Old Testament and the New.

If everyone acted like it says we should in the NT there would be a lot of love goin round. That's a fact.

Sorry, I was reading some of the post in other threads, so it took me awhile to get back to you.
Plus, typing this up took awhile.

Yes, I do agree that the New Testement is different than the old. Stll there are some things that do stick out to me in the New Testement that I see as wrong. Such as;

"Women should remain silent in the churches. They should not be allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is a disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church." - 1 Corinthians

and..

"Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent."
- 1 Timothy

Sorry, dont know the exact chapter and verse. There are other things that I dont agree with, but these two are at the front of my mind.
