If the public really knew what the police really do to people they consider 'of color' and the homeless, mentally challanged homeless, or drug addicted on a daily basis would astound them. A lot of these people are harassed every day of their lives by the same police over and over just to get them to move out of their district. Its a shame that people have to put up with this and they have no one to turn to for help as they are considered human waste and not to be bothered with. If only people could remember that these are your fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, dauhgters and require some the same dignety and respect as everyone else. To let the police just do as they feel like says alot about how society considers these people.

What evidence? He threatened the police, pointed something (a power adapter) at them and he refused to surrender. That is all I need to know, put me on that jury. It's a no brainer!

What a crock of excrement. I don't belive a word of this rhetoric. If you WANT to get off drugs, you do it. If you WANT to get off welfare, you do it. If you WANT to get a job, you do it. All of this "Oh please help me, I'm a victim of society" garbage is just that. Garbage. When are we as an educated society going to stop enabling these "professional victims"? Where is the personal accountability? If you're unhappy with your situation in life, then do something about it other then being a drain on the economy. This idiot is dead because he made several bad PERSONAL decisions in a row. Should anyone really expect his widow to get a dime for the reckless actions of her deceased husband? Of course she'll receive her "just go away" settlement from the city, and that's all she wants. I've been in some pretty serious vehicle accidents myself, but I was never so F'd up that I couldn't tell whether a cop was shooting at me or not! To all of you who say that this woman is on welfare, do you even know if this is true? Did you glance at her file from the DPSS and base your conclusion on this concrete information? But the white person who was also walking to the SAME soda machine gets a greeting and a smile. WHAT THE??? I have no priors and have NEVER been arrested and I'm a young black WOMAN who is a STAFF ACCOUNTANT and NOT on welfare. What was the reason for this? I don't know, but its very upsetting to see so called educated people say such things as we're trying to get free money because we're on welfare. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. You don't know how it is to be a black person in America and you never will. Just immediately after the crash when the officers approached Mr. Cox , Something was said to them, for the officers to back away . Normally, after a crash, the officers check and asked if injured . The driver Say's NO! I'm hurt ! The officers say ! Hold on, the E.M.T.s are on their way. If the officers wanted to shoot him, Well they would have shot him THEN instead of back away from the car. If he just kept his hands on the steering wheel and said nothing (in pain) things could have been different. Threating officers and holding something in hand at 7:30 at night (march) is a NO,no,no.

It'll go to trial with a "downtown jury" and she'll be awarded multi-millions of our tax dollars even in the face of clear evidence the officers acted properly. But she'll get more from the LA City Council who will be more than willing to offer her a settlement of even more than a downtown jury would award. Or wait, she's not a city employee? I'm truly upset with the concept of people trying to get money because they're on welfare. I would like an eyewitness to testify to the accounts of this guy waving something in the air and saying he'll kill the officers. Not the LAPD saying this is what happened. The police department will do anything to cover up a mistake just as hospitals and other corporations. No one wants to admit they're wrong, so until you have all of the facts, don't assume you know exactly what happened. Even President Nixon lied and had people steal information from the watergate building in Washington DC and this was found out years later. At first, we all believed it wasn't him and it was someone else. Then what happened? Found out it was our own commander in chief who deceived us so he can get ahead. What does that say about our so called governnment?

White people always get on threads and talk about race and minority people. How come white always do that. White people do think they are perfect but they are not. They are no where near as smart as most other people I see all the time. Most of the time they are dumber and trying to pretend to be smart which results in too much empty talking.

White people you are not God. You are people just like minorities. Most of the time you have had better opportunities for generations while everyone else have not had the same opportunites for generations. You are mean, people. And you are not better than anyone else.

Something bad will happen to these people who insist on continue to demean other people because they are minority people. At my job, white people always want to whisper to me about the black people. It is not nice. They get upset when I don't want to sit with them. They get mad when the black people achieve more than them because they convince themselve they were better and know they see it is the same. So they get bitter at my job. I am sure it is the same everywhere. I refuse to sit with this kind of people. There are many wiith that same spirit who write on these threads. I do not like it anyway.

Ask anyone, black, white, green, purple, who takes on the awesome responsibility for defending others. It is not their job to be killed. It is their job to enforce the law, protect the innocent, and go home to their families.

If somebody tells me that they have a gun, I believe them.

If somebody tells me that they have weapons of Mass Destruction, and his own generals believe that he does. I believe them.

Our police, our country, and the public can not afford to wait until we are attacked to defend our selves.

By then it is often too late.

Just because the people in this tragedy are the same color as I am, should not be the deciding factor on who I chose to believe.

Please don’t make this a race issue. Please don’t jump to conclusions based on color. Seek the facts and let them guide you.
