One will be stolen within six months. I know I'm negative. They could RUN to respond to an emergency instead of maybe running into or over somebody.

Them running...Ahem...Right...I observed once a Women that lost her Two year old son...the Mall Security Guards just gave her a tired look...a friend and myself run around with the Mother to find the Baby...They did not even try to get people to close the Exits of the Mall to prevent someone to leave with the Baby...no response at all!!
Thank God we found the little Guy in one of the near Dept. Stores...hiding...Nowadays they really should have some sort of Training on what to do in situations like that!

What a waste. They will be sued for running into people in no time. How lazy can you be? Rent a cops have no clue what they are doing anyway. You might as well put clown make up on them and have them do tricks with the Segway for entertainment. More reasons why I don't go there.

Yeah right. Try "locking down" the mall and see what happens. Do you really think that people will sit still for that? And how many mall guards would they need to have on duty in order to secure all of the mall exits? I don't think that you are being reasonable. I'm sure that they have security cameras all around and I can almost guarantee you that once they get word of a missing child, that they are monitoring those cameras, especially near the exits. There really is no need for mall guards to be "running around" as you and your friend where. The best thing that they can do is get detailed information and relay it to the camera guys and then start a reasonable backwards track to try and locate the child. Getting excited and emotional and causing a mall-wide lockdown serves very little useful purpose.

Have you ever seen those "rent a cops"? I think they recruited one of them out of the middle school. These Segway's are a joke. It's not like this mall is incredibly large. I can understand if it was a good sized one like the Orange mall, but let's be serious we can walk the lenght of the mall in mere minutes, let alone run it should the need arise.

Wait until the Danbury hoodlums see this vision.

The mall guards a joke, a big one the kind that makes the teller of the joke laugh halfway through and cant finish. Trust me they need those things half of them are gimps and over weight. JUst to get on the segway is going to take some time. Some of them look like they need helmets when walking around dont go putting them on a segway lol.

Is a Mall security guard one step below a city cop?

Why the animosity? Did you not pass the last "mall guard exam" and now you're angry at them because you couldn't get a job? Have a little empathy for others, why don't you?

That's lovely...something for the amature security force at the mall to spin around on. They can't even intervene in mall altercations - what do they need a segway for?
The Macrich company should be forced to hire real police for the mall security - and until they do there is no real security at the mall - it's all for show.
In case that's news to you - at least now you know

Typically, these so called security officers have little enthusiasm for doing there job In fact, security people are typically wannabe cops, or part timers that are in school or in between jobs. They typically earn minimum wage BUT, if they take the job, they should do the job.

Sick and tired of passing through the mall rats and other low lifes that hang out at the carousel entrance that smoke and spit wherever they want, I went to the security office and asked the four security guards if anyone was working. Angry, I told them to get there feet off the counter and go out and do their job. They were stunned!

That's lovely...something for the mall security to spin around on. The "Mall Security" can't even intervene if an altercation occurs at a store, they have no real power or training for an emergency, and store employees are told to call 911 if you really need actual help.

Just to let you know in case you ever need real help at the mall.

The Macerich Company should be forced by the town to hire real police for the protection of the good people who shop and spend hard earned money there.

What if a life threatening incident occured and you needed immediate help? Nope not for the Mall Security to handle...huh?

Man, what a bunch of cynical people. Its not really anyones business but the malls anyway. If you holier than thou yupsters don't like the mall, don't go there. It should still be a fair anyway. Are "real" cops that good anyway? Or are they a bunch of buzz cut war mongers with small weenies?

Wow, people really are negative around here. First of all, to whoever said the mall isn't that big, it's actually the largest in CT and one of the largest in New England. Secondly, the amount of training that these guards go through is rediculous, they are all certified in CPR and AED as well as first responder first aid, not to mention counter terrorism awareness, and they go through training with Danbury Police. Oh and DPD is actually hired by the mall for the weekends...aka when the mall is busiest. Stop being negative and stop talking about things you know nothing about. Macerich is doing a great job.
