I am trying to send money via the w.u. online service to my thai bank account (kasikornbank) but it is asking me for the Bank Code which is a maximum of 3 characters. Does anybody know how i find this out? Don't think its anything to do with the SWIFT code either! Thanks

Hi Pault - I have been trying to do this today and have had the same problem as you. My son has been into his bank today (Bangkok Bank) and they assure him there is no such thing. I am waiting for a response from WU but wondered if you had managed it and where do you find it?

Hi,
My bank told me the same thing but there is a 3 digit code, I found the codes for most of the thai banks on a forum. I cannot remember where but will try and find it again as I need to know the code for my ladies account who is with TMB. I am pretty sure that Bangkok Bank code was 001. The codes for the thai banks went from 001 upto about 007 consecutively. Will try and get back to you asap as i know how frustrating it is.

Thanks pault you're a brick. Out of interest, what was the forum where you found the codes? Might come in useful another time.

this number is ok but the western union site not accept that and show one error if you put 002 , i call to the help desk and they dont know who i can contact for the bank code number ... WU will give you one new service but its not working i move to worldremit.com there i can send money to the bangkok bank with swifrt code and is cheaper then WU

I have just managed to set up a bank transfer from western union UK to Kasikorn Bank Pattaya in Thailand. At first I thought it would be easy, since the first 4 characters of the Swift Code are supposed to be the Bank Code. Swift code KASITHBKLAM would indicate Kasikorn Thailand Bank, Lam Chabaeng Branch (near enough). But it did not work.
Following on from the tips given above, I telephoned the bank's English language helpline in Bangkok. They confirmed that the Bank Code was '004', and the Branch Code for Pattaya was the same as the first 3 digits in the account number - in this case '389'.
Now the money is on its way, I hope.
