btw, Loren was intentionally vague. Juenteenth, a day celebrating the date African Americans were freed from the contract of slavery negotiated by their ancestors in Africa.
None such thing is celebrated in Africa, since they continue to quietly advocate slavery in different regional areas to this day, and probably were sorry to see it abolished in civilized societies.
It used to be a defeated tribe was sold off into slavery by the winning tribe. Now they just kill them, or run them off into the jungle to die. In the Congo, it's been lately popular to eat the offending weaker tribe.
In any case, it's only recognized by 26 states, so it's not exactly an "american" holiday, if you want to qualify an american holiday as one nationally recognized.

Please give my regrets, as I will be unable to attend the celebration because the venue is smack in the middle of violet gang territory and I fear for my children's safety. It must be wonderful to live in a cheaper place that is safe any be able to tell us locals how we should feel from afar.

This is a city sponsored event that will have thousands of great folks in attendance. I have not heard of any problems in the past, have you? Are you saying it would be dangerous to attend this event? That is just silly.

They are folks whose descendent tribes fought each other, and the winners sold the losers off to arab slave dealers who sold them first to the Portuguese, who undercut traders in Europe thanks to free labor, which forced the hand of others into the slave trading business, including England and America.
As soon as was economically feasible, western europeans put a stop to it, unlike Africa, which still carries on selling each other.
I guess this is what they're trying to celebrate. They figure they're free, and Africa is way over there someplace, the people are darker than American blacks, so they don't matter.
Suffice to say, the "holiday" isn't something I'd partake in, since it ironically celebrates African Americans who could care less about those who weren't fortunate enough to be brought here, and live horrid lives of desperation that their more fortunate members have dismissed.

How Much is Enough, The problem with your ideas is that everything is the fault of immigrants and blacks. In Germany, the Nazis thought that everything was the fault of the Jews. Same sick thinking. What's new about random gunfire sounds and senseless deaths?
Because all over the USA from sea-to-sea, that's what's going to happen on Juneteenth.
It's a sickening display of contemporary African-American "culture", but it's a good thing my opinion doesn't count; criticizing the death-toll could be construed as "racist".
