Why have all the comments been deleted?

Nobody seems to like this deal and commented accordingly, so, why has the Sentinel deleted them?

Seems to me this is more of an ad for a bad deal from Disney than a true news story.

Come on Sentinel, let the voices be heard!

the comments were deleted for the same reason this is a "news" story at all: Disney owns the local media. If not on paper at least psychologically. Why else would this even be mentioned? The rest of the market buys an ad when they have a sale. Disney just tells the slantinel to write it up. And people wonder why no trusts the media? Or reads the slantinel?

Disney lays of thousands of workers with mortgages, car payments, children in college, credit card bills, utility bills, insurance bills etc. etc. and thinks by publicly offering a few dollars discount to Florida residents during slump attendance times we are supposed to say "Oh Great! Disney is such a wonderful Company!" ???

If you are a buddy of the CEO you get millions we found out but little people down the food chain are considered "expendable" items.

Disney should offer a payment plan on passes like Universal and Sea World. I would buy 2 - just not going to fork over close to $1000 for 2 passes at one time when I can slowly have $17 deducted from my account.

It's not that great of a deal. For the same $300 for three of us to go to Disney for two days, we could go to SeaWorld or Universal for a year or two, and get free parking!

SeaWorld and Universal are NOT Disney.

For a quarter, I can get a can of "cola". I can't get Cherry Coke, though. Pay for what you want. But don't assume that all products are the same and only prices differ. Generations of people all over the world, tens of millions of them, have decided that Disney is better than Sea World and Universal.

Just because you wear a cross does not make you a Christian. Please re-read what you have written and then decide if it was Christ-like.

I thoroughly enjoy Disney. Sea World is not on the top of my list and I've never been to Universal. I love traveling to Florida; and not just Orlando. We'll be there in a matter of weeks and again with the extended family later this year. Disney will not be the only place in Florida that gets our money, but it is one of the main reasons for traveling there with grandkids.

The locals just don't realize what a gift Disney has given them - like pearls before the swine. You should all send thank you notes to the Great Mouse!

I have been a Disney annual pass holder for 13 years. I have seen the decline in Disney for some years now, particularly Epcot, the park most appealing to locals because of the live musical entertainment, or at least the former amount of live musical entertainment. Epcot purged a number of performers last October in the Norway, UK, Outpost and Canada sections. Live entertainment was slashed at Food and Wine Festival the past 3 years. This year, main stage entertainment during the Flower and Garden Festival is being cut to 3 nights a week from the past 7 nights a week. Exhibits at the 2 annual festivals have been cut back severely. Tourists don't notice this. Locals who go regularly do. That is why many have stopped going, or curtailed visits. My annual pass is up for renewal in May. After 13 years, I likely will not renew. SeaWorld and Universal/Busch Gardens present far better value for the money. I wrote senior executive Disney officials about this matter. I was pretty much gaffed off. So be it, I will take the 5 grand I have spent annually at Disney for years, and spend it elsewhere.

Companies pay POSITIONS, not employees. The position, or job, has a certain pay scale, and that's it. If you don't like it, work elsewhere. This kind of socialist mentality, which dictates a 'fair wage' to unqualified, uneducated people is part of the problem in America. This is the land of opportunity, but acheiving opportunites comes at a price. The price is education, ambition, sacrifice, and self-improvement. If you are too lazy to do those things, then reap what you sow and stop complaining.

Is that what you think folks visiting Disney want? The lowest paid individuals who are willing to work for low wages? I want pleasant and decent people working in the parks. This may require Disney to up the ante as far as wages go. You of all people should be in support of higher wages, look what the uneducated masses have done to that trash heap of a city you call Philadelphia. Come on Disney one Pennsylvania is enough, please up your pay scales.

Wages won't make a person 'pleasant'. I was a Cast Member for years and the pay was commensurate with equal positions in the market. Companies offer paid POSITIONS, period. WDW did not shanghai people off the street and force them to work. People came in and APPLIED for the job, knowing in advance what it pays. Trying to regulate the way businesses operate is part of what caused the economic meltdown. You want more of that? Although we are rapidly sliding toward Socialism, this is still America, with plenty of opportunity. Stop trying to legislate 'fairness' and leave it to individuals and companies to make decisions in their own best interests.
You want to legislate 'fair wages' to people- a lot of whom are too lazy to learn the english language. Basic communication skills might, just might, offer some of these folks better opportunities. Until then, they can continue to clean hotel rooms for minimum wage.

I’m not advocating that the man comes in and regulates private sector wages. Disney needs to do that on its own. They won’t be able to rest on their laurels forever. Eventually, people will get sick and tired of paying a premium to feel like outsiders in their own country. I.e. the people you claim can’t speak English.
It’s not at all about fairness; it’s about supplying a product that people are willing to pay for. You need to look no further than the American auto manufacturers. Disney needs to take a good long look.
I believe that higher wages and a better standard of living do create a more pleasant individual.

Would it make you feel better if they kept all those people you say the layed-off, and went out of business. General Motors did that because they were strangled by their union and managed by some idoiots. They will soon be gone, and all the union workers will be unemployed. But I guess you would rather have everyone unemployed and a company bancrupt rather than lay-off those they can't afford in bad times. Real smart thinking, Gertrude.
