I was listening to really great bands in 1991-1992.

Badlands "Voodoo Highway"
Deep Purple "Slaves And Masters"
Black Sabbath "TYR" and "Headless Cross"
Queensrryche "Empire"

I hated bands like Warrant and Ugly Kid Joe.

Nirvana wiped out all the hair bands suddenly.

The music industry is really pathetic.

Everything changed overnight in favor of grunge.

What more can anyone say?

The music scene took a left turn, never recovered.

My brother is giving me a copy of the new disc...the torrent I downloaded isn't the greatest quality...I'll come back after I give it another listen...

The new disc isn't quite like the old DLR Van Halen of yore...

But it's a decent effort regardless.

If I were going to complain about anything...

It would be the overall production.

The band is fine and Roth isn't bad for his age vocally on it..

I've noticed Roth's voice on live feed is certainly rough.

The new disc has a somewhat muddy sound that isn't perfect.

I think that they might have tooled with the recorded vocals.

I can hear it in certain songs, but it's really high in the mix.

The same can be said about Eddie's guitar or Alex's drumming.

It probably has something to do with overdubs in modern recording.

If you listen to Robert Plant's new stuff, his voice has aged.

It happens with older singers and DLR's voice isn't that strong.

But it's what it is, really.

Can't really shave 30 years off his voice.

So, having said that...as a new Van Halen disc, it's not bad....

Some people love it while some people are certainly disappointed.

After hearing the criticisms, I can somewhat understand why.

However, I think it's a a bit silly to nic pick it that much.

It's 2012 and the band isn't going to be the same as in the 80's.
