What do you guys think of this new supergroup Chickenfoot? Hagar on vocals, Satriani on guitars, Anthony on bass and Chad Smith on drums. Looking forward to hearing their music once they're finished recording around Labor Day.

I think the band has a lot of potential as ALL the members have respectable careers and have skills too, but...

1) what's the last time Sammy put out a decent song ?
2) what's the last time Satch wrote an original riff ?
3) what's the last time Mike was involved in a relevant tune ?
4) what's the last time Chad really grooved ?

My (provocative) answers:
1) 1995, The Seventh Sign (in "Balance", with Van Halen).
2) 1993, The Mighty Turtle Head (in "Time Machine");
3) 1998, Without You (in "Van Halen 3", with Van Halen);
4) 1995, Warped (in "One Hot Minute", with Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Well, I'm sure they did something good in these past 10+ years and some even got a very decent commerical success... but my point is they have to step up and come up with REAL ORIGINAL music to live up to their reputation/careers.

Good luck, guys !!!

Thanks Sammy...

These guys are pros and have a lot of potential as a group, but Sammy is comparing the band to Led Zeppelin... yikes !!!

Not even the band name is comparable; Jimmy Page is one of the main references in guitar playing and Led Zeppelin has 4~5 historical albums that have no parallel in music history.

I think he should be a little humble, get the band a decent name and after 3 albums and 3 tours, draw the comparisons he want (the audience and press will certainly take care of that one, too).
