Joe Satriani by far is the best guitarist I've seen live. He smokes EVH.

What can I say about that video ?...
- Grace Porter is excellent !!!!!
- Joe Satriani can play, but his blues is poor...

I like Satch a lot (have all the CDs autographed by the man, as I interviewed him some 10 years ago) but he lacks originality... he hasn't done anything stunning since "Time Machine" (let's see what this "Chickenfoot" project brings).

Steve Vai is much more inventive than Satch and Edward Van Halen also. If you're not familiarized with "Eruption", "Spanish Fly", "Cathedral", "Mean Street", "Baluchiterium" and so many other licks/solos, go and do your homework.

About my list, I may have been unfair... Allan Holdsworth, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Ritchie Blackmore and Frank Zappa should be in there... not that they're heavy metal but they had a big big big impact on electric guitar...

Yes, I don't think you can pick the BEST guitar player. It's all subjective, with so many different tastes and styles.

You have choosen some very talented men, let me add (since I'm a woman and I don't see any on here) Nancy Wilson. You should see that lady play!

I do love your 'list' though.

You know who is not getting any love is Steve Morse IMO he is the most underrated guy around, Morse is the guitarist guitar player, I also would add George Lynch and Warren DiMartini, Uli John Roth is amazing as well, EVH is a such a pure talent and 10000000000000000% original, for someone to say Satch is better is beyond me, one listen to Spanish Fly and you know EVH has major chops, Eruption has to be the most copied solo in hardrock history, EVH brilliant guy who also pushed for Holdsworth to be signed by warner, great move

Julia... I also forgot Jennifer Batten... her version of the "Flight Of The Bumblebee" is jaw-dropping awesome and for a few years she seemed to be the only human (other than Edward Van Halen) who could play the guitar solo to "Beat It"... she did it every night live with Michael Jackson.

But then again, not enough to be on that Top10 list; it's a man's world, I guess...

Oooops... I forgot to include Steve Morse !!!
He should be on that Top10 list, for sure.

I have several of his records and DVDs (solo, with the Dixie Dregs and with Deep Purple) and he's a monster guitar player. Also a great guy.

My bad.
Apologies.
