Coldplay's Sunrise set shows band at best, worst

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

First came U2 to argue that profundity is not a cardinal sin or character flaw in rock music-making: It's cool to be grandiose if you write good hooks.

I'm glad I chose to see Rufus Wainwright at the Kravis Center over Coldplay last night. I've seen Coldplay a few times now and there's nothing particularly unique you'll see each time - just faithful renditions of the "anthems" that can wear thin...the Rufus show on the other hand was an engaging and intimate, just songs on the piano or an acoustic throughout, yet he still held your attention and awe at the sheer brilliance of his voice and his songwriting. But then again, he doesn't aspire to such great heights as Coldplay - good for him -

I respectfully disagree.

The show was awesome from start to finish. This article sounds generic. Nothing specific to last night's concert. More like a critique of songs already established on the new album.

I wish I had seen the show. I saw them on TV live one time and I wished I was at the show. I love Coldplay's music.

Yes. I totally agree. This was my first Coldplay concert and I enjoyed every moment. The crowd was really into it too. I was very impressed with the live performance from the band.

The only thing wrong with that show is the venue...the Bank AD-lantic Center.

Didn't see the Sunrise show. However, I was at the Orlando show two days prior and doubt there was that much of a difference in the two. Orlando was more than entertaining to say the least and the crowd was completely into the music. For those wanting a REAL review of the show and not a generic critique of the songs, check out the Crossfade blog on the Miami New Times -

I am so sick of these boring weak cry baby crap bands. Plus they ripped off Joe Satriani big time!

Me too, but Coldplay isn't one of them.
