It/she may be western but she sure isn't country, at least, not this country. Not say'n that she can't sing but could never hold a candle to Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, etc. I know,... everyone has an opinion but that's my story and.... "I'm Stick'n To It!"

Sorry I just had to throw my two cents worth in, Ya' know. The old masters had heart and soul, they had what it takes to be legends. You sure don't see that today. A bunch of no talent flashes in the pan. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Your description is sure correct and to make it worse, they all sound the same. They're simply created by the recording powers-that-be and have no individual sound. When you were hearing Hank, Lefty, Marty, Kitty, Dolly, Waylon, ETC., you actually knew who it was without the "today-motor-mouth-disc-j ockey" telling you. I know, change has to be but it's NOT always for the better. It's been a long time since I've even turned the radio on. I play the "good" CD's that I like and want to hear, and "N O" damn advertisements.(Plus I play my own music.)

Right you are, I agree. Nobody has their own unique, individual style anymore. They all sound the same. I know they said it back in yours and my day "That new music all sounds the same" Well really it didn't back then, but it sure does today.

I'll never forget when Garth Brooks staged his first publicity stunt retirement. They asked Kinky Friedman what he thought of it. Kinky said "Twenty years from now we'll all be sitting around listening to Hank Sr. records and someone is going to say.(Remember that country star that had all those platinum CD's and wore the huge hat, what the Hell was his name?)

Nobody is going to remember them. Flashes in the pan.

And it's not just Country music either, Rock is the same. You can't tell one group/singer from the other.

We have one decent station here, a public station. They have the "Honky Tonk" show every Saturday night. The DJ's are all volunteer, so they're not the best. But the music is great.

Long live the old music legends, and they will through their music.

I so much appreciate and agree with what you say. Now the station that you mentioned "has" to be WEVL. I listened faithfully to Bashful Bob until he bowed out but he came all the way from Tupelo and he wasn't young or in the best of health. Now,... he sure played some real country and plenty of it. He once said that country was anything he liked! Guess that'll work.

No no it's http://www.wojb.org/ The Honky Tonk show every Saturday night from 8:00PM to midnight, I believe. The first half hour is all Hank Sr. every Saturday.

They also play blues, jazz, swing on different days and nights of the week.

It's a wide variety, Native American public radio station. Like I said the DJ's are all volunteer, so they're not the best. But the music is.

My apologies, Hoss. Though I noticed your "location hidden", I just assumed that you were from "somewhere" around here - here being the general Memphis, Tn. area. I'll try to bring in your WOJB on Sat. night. Have a good one up there in Wisconsin or ...??

No problem at all. But lucky you living in the Memphis area, down there in Elvis country.

I listen to WOJB every weekend for there classic country, blues, jazz. It's not your typical radio station at all. Sometimes they play songs like The "Wilted Lettuce Orgy." Or an old fishing favorite "Yankin' on my Yohnson." lol! Hope you enjoy.

Yes, certainly better but like the post says above, that's the very thing we've been talking about. Welllllllll,..she may have talent for something but not "authentic" country music. Hillbilly,.?....I don't know, I think she's from Oklahoma and hillbillys are generally classed from the South.

Southerners are not country and western. Southerners should stick to the blues, jazz, and blue grass. Texas and Oklahoma are western music states. Stay there in inbred Dixie with your banjo, bubba!

So what are people in the N.W. like Oregon and Washington? Or the N.E. the New England states? What about the Midwest, the heartland? What are we? So each area of the USA is limited to a certain kind of music they play or listen to? I never knew that, thanks for your brilliant enlightenment.
