Are some of you saying that if you lost salary from your employment to the tune of $10 million that you'd be fine with it?
No one should be. Whether we need it, keep it, or donate it to a good cause, if we earned it it's ours to decide where it should go. Its not someone's to steal.
Wouldn't you need to see the contract to know if he earned it or not?

Tommy Lee Jones gave a good performance in the movie but it was an excellent ensemble cast of Javier Bardem, Woody Harrelson, Garret Dilahunt, Josh Brolin, Tess Harper, Kelly MacDonald and Stephen Root. Why didn't Josh Brolin get an Oscar nod for his performance? The Coen brothers are fine directors, I've seen Fargo and Blood Simple, by the way was their earliest film. Some of the best movies are independents and directors' earliest works.

Hey, I saw this one, too. I'd already read the book by this same title. I don't know why, but I felt like some of the meaning was lost on me. I guess I just didn't relate at all to the killing, Javier's part. That scene with the gas station attendant and gambling for his life seemed to say he felt anyone's life was just a gamble. I don't know, I couldn't wrap my head around how one could think they had the right to force a life/death gamble on another and then execute it.

It seems that when a movie is made from a book, some of it is lost. I have seen Casino and Goodfellas to name a few that were movies based from a book. When you read the book and then see the movie you feel tend to feel cheated.

Good point. I wonder what the author's feel like when they see a movie from their books?

I remember the thought from the lawman's pov that Tommy played out referring to the idea of 'finding God' someday, but it not happening. I had the idea that it was all the evil they have to deal with that choked that notion out. I can relate to that with my own husband being in law enforcement and the military.

The movie did get the shock across about how cruel people can be and how it always an ongoing job to stare it down.
