1 I agree. I also think affirmative action is racist. It is based on RACE not qualifications. |

La Raza started out as a militant Chicano organization in California made up mostly of Hispanic kids with chips on their shoulders, unable to "fit in" to a predominantly White school system.
They created a lot of their own problems. Forming and belonging to the La Raza organizations just made that gap between them and their White classmates that much wider. Members of this group would harass other Hispanics if they did assimilate into what they, La Raza, MEChA, The Brown Movement, etc. believed to be "White" American culture. If other Hispanic kids did well in school and got along well with and hung around with their White classmates, they were dogged and referred to as "vendidos." La Raza means the race. That was what it meant back in 1968 and that is what it stands for today. They can try and deny it all they want but they are LYING! Those of us who were there and watched this group morph ointo what it is today have NOT FORGOTTEN the rootsd of the National Council of La Raza. Follow this URL to listen to recordings and read the transcripts of some of La Raza's and some of its many offshoot organizations current and past members spewing their OPENLY racist rhetoric to college students, many of these members became college professors and were given free rein over teaching their racist dogmas in Cal State Universities... http://ccir.net/AUDIO/TakeoverOfAmericaCD/Men... Listen closely and then try and convince yourself that these people aren't hateful racists involved deeply in the "hate speech" they accuse everyone else of! |

1 Yep! In an on-air confrontation that created a buzz for weeks, CNN commentator Lou Dobbs angrily clashed with Murguia about that association. Another group that opposes illegal Immigration, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, says Murguia deserves much of the blame for removing civility from the debate. "They recognize that [Immigration reform] is a hard sell to the American public, especially at this time," FAIR spokesman Ira Mehlman said. "So if you can't win the arguments, the next thing to do is start attacking the people on the other side." Chrgrfan, congrats on your Editorship! |

1 Los Angels County: 10% of Los Angeles County residents are illegal aliens (the highest percentage of county residents in the country) Illegal aliens cost the county greater than one billion dollars per year in taxpayer costs, not counting education. Breakdown: $444 million for welfare and food stamps $400 million for health care $220 million for correctional services, law enforcement and other public safety costs New statistics from the Department of Public Social Services reveal that illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $37 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in November 2007, which is up $3 million dollars from September. Children of illegal aliens receive 25% of welfare and food stamp money. ---Mike Antonovich, LA County Supervisor LOS ANGELES - Through their citizen children, illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County collect $420 million annually in welfare and food stamps, according to a report requested by 5th District County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services told the supervisor that payments to illegal immigrants' children amount to approximately 24% of the county's combined CalWORKS and food stamps budget, officials said. "What we found was kind of astonishing," said Tony Bell, an Antonovich aide. Each month, the county doles out $77 million in CalWORKS assistance,$20 million of which goes to the citizen dependent children of illegal immigrants, said Helen Berberian, another Antonovich aide. CalWORKS is the state's welfare-to-work program. Along with CalWORKS assistance, the county approves $70 million every month in food stamps, with $15 million going to legal children of illegal immigrants, Berberian said. The welfare payments go to nearly 100,000 children of 60,000 illegal immigrants, Antonovich's staff said. His staff estimated that Los Angeles County has almost 12% of the United States' illegal immigrant population. |
