Does anybody actually edit this guy? Does he actually read what he's written? Or is this commentary written on Prosac?

"The Neilsens and me have parted ways, as the culture has." This is one of the most mind-bogglingly self-absorbed statements I've read in some time. Do you seriously believe that your lack of interest in popular culture means that it has ceased to matter to anyone? That is the definition of solipsism.
Incidentally, I completely despise all three of those "decade in charts" bands that you mention. Nickelback, Train, and Lifehouse are all truly hideous groups who make terrible music -- but you've never even HEARD their songs in question? These were songs that I spent years actively trying to avoid, on radio, on TV, in passing, in restaurants, while shopping in Target, everywhere. I find in incomprehensible that a music critic -- or even a retired music critic -- could have missed these. Perhaps it isn't so much that pop culture has fallen apart as it is that you've completely lost interest in pop culture. And that's fine if you're not interested, but not being interested makes you entirely unfit to write about it.

I love reading Larry's columns; rather, I love skimming through them. The best part are the comments from the bloggers. They are clever and on point. I often find myself hearing the words "blah, blah, blah.." a la Charlie Brown and the teacher when I read Larry's columns. It's great knowing there will be a payoff when I get to the comments section. Surely, Larry wouldn't have a column if he wasn't the editor, but thank God he is, so I can move through his blah, blah, blah to the critique.

I just cannot believe that radio stations are still allowed to play rock music that Larry Wilson does not approve of.

Hey Average:

Your AOL tag -- and your angry nutjob style -- are like a big name tag. Might as well skip the annonymous names ... esp. one like this given that your views, in general, put you in the far fringe ...
