Morrissey Live Has Its Risks

There are certain risks that come with attending a Morrissey concert. "You're going to get whipped if you stand so close," the singer said Saturday night at the Foxwoods MGM Grand Theater, issuing a droll warning to fans pressed up against the stage.

The end of this review is just a tiny bit innaccuate. My recollection is that Morrissey faked a cough while Boz was still struggling to find out whether his amp was working, not right before they all walked off the stage. A very small point, obviously, but my impression was that Morrissey was surprised by the situation and was trying to buy some time before giving up on doing an encore. I think the youtube video of this moment confirms this, as Morrissey also said something along the lines of "does anyone know any jokes ..." before giving up and exiting the stage.

I was at the show and Morissey owed his audience an encore in spite of missing one amplifier. He had a several walls of them, after all.

His band almost buried him and they are not the people I came to hear. Mogs seemed more concered with putting in exactly 90 minutes and little else.
