Oh, and we have about the same number of bills to pay as you, but the wife, who pays them, will ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY not pay on computer. We have wrangled about this for years, but she will not, unless we're very late on the payment and she is forced into it.

Don't ask me why, but that's the way it is. She mistrusts the Internet, and I have a feeling she's not the only one. I can argue with her until I'm blue in the face. Makes no difference. E mail; the web; she loves them all, but she will not pay bills online.

If stamps go up to a dollar, she might reconsider, but until then "our check is in the mail."

Biggie, I'm not one to interfere with marital disputes ;)

But...

All my bills except that one do come via email. You can opt-in. Banks (mortgages), my insurance, credit card, AEP, etc. now have opt-in to avoid the paper. Better for me that way cause I'm bad with paper.

I just keep a PDF of all payments and bills and flush them after a while.

I agree that there are people who don't trust internet -- and there is sound reason for it. But I think that too will be handled better as time goes on. Problems lie on both sides: use of bad passwords, email hacking, and miscreants who are out there who will hack into accounts just because they can. Also -- my mom would never touch a computer, too old, she didn't get it, and it was never pushed with her. For someone who lived to 86, eh... she did it as best she could.

It's one reason why I say I don't see the USPS going away quickly, if ever. They still do perform some functions that are required -- registered/certified mail, large package delivery, PO box services, etc.

Pensions, yes, do need to be re-thought for the USPS workers. No problem there.

Yes, I'd do it your way but, then again, I'm not in charge.:)
