“Cool Logic - Burning Passion” Since: Feb 07
Bethlehem ISP: Allentown, PA |
Waters is right about Pink Floyd being over (especially now that Rick Wright is dead) but Pink Floyd actually moved on, adjusted, and fluorished with David Gilmour being the far better musical composer than Waters, post breakup. If I want to hear Waters I listen to old Pink Floyd or some of his very early solo efforts. I have no interest whatsoever in hearing him now, wall or not.

saw them twice without him---- wouldn't mind seeing him though--but he is most likely right about some portions of the wall!!

I have every album The Floyd's put out (with the exception of Eclipse), all of the solo albums by Barrett, Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason - but Waters has always been a lefty on politics and I'm not surprised that he sees equivalency between a wall built by communists to keep their people in and one built by a democracy built to keep terrorists out.
I'd always hoped that Syd would've snapped out of it and got the craving again to do music, like Brian Wilson did when he put out Smile. Now I just hope for Gilmour to officially clean up Vegetable Man and Scream Thy Last Scream and whatever else he has of Syd's in the vault and put the lost Syd Barrett Recordings out. The "Bob Dylan Blues" Gilmour released on the last Barrett collection was stellar. |

I have seen Pink Gilmore 4 or 5 times, and Rodger over 10 times. Rodger by far puts on a better show. Pros and Cons of Hitch hiking and K.A.O.S were brilliant albums. I'd fly half-way around the world to seem him in concert again.

What more reason could Israel ask for to keep the wall?

Ive had the oportunity to see Waters live. He puts on an amazing show. He definatly knows how to put together a set list as well as the clinging visuals. say what you want about him, just remember there wouldnt be all the great songs composed from Dark Side of the Moon, thru to the Wall without Roger Waters. All most of which came from his brain.(Still to this day torn from the loss of Syd...Shine on Syd... Shine on.
I do give the other band members their credit... they are just as integral and talented. David is an amazing guitarist, great vocals... and with out the presence of Nick and Richard... wouldnt be the same. they were made into a monster... One of the greatest bands of all time. I hope to see them give it one last tour... would be legendary... |

"Amused to death" shows who the real genius is of all the Floyds. After Roger left PF was reduced to a band like Dire Straits or a coldplay... It sounds nice musically but it's just not Floyd.
From all the solo albums and the two Floyd albums after Roger left, "Amused to Death" is the only album worth having any link to PF on it. The rest is just not PF. But then again that is not so surprising. Roger wrote all of the lyrics for Dark side, whish u were here, animals and practically did The wall on his own musically and lyrically. Final cut is also 100% Waters. From the older songs (after Syd left) the best are Waters as well (such as set the control for heart of the sun) |

Nowadays, most of what I listen to is death or thrash metal but every once in awhile I will play some olf Floyd like Ummagumma or Obscured by Clouds. Astronomy Domine, The Grand Vizer's Garden Party, and a Saucerful of Secrets never fail to put me in a melancholic trance. Great stuff. |

roger waters already performed in israel in 2006.
he deicided to make a gesture to the palestinians by moving the venue of the concert from the nice convenient location in tel aviv to "neve shalom" near the west bank. he ofcourse did that after most tickets were already sold. he did not choose to make a gesture for peace doing anything that might hurt him in any way like oh lets say cutting the profit he would be making from the show, lowering tickets fee or giving free tickets to people harmed in the conflict. he chose a symbolic way to get people to come to remote location and be stuck in traffic for hours. got some "i am a humanitarian" world headlines on the backs of the ticket buyers. the separation wall is the best thing that ever happened to israel and it saved thousands of lives. ill go see his show when england disassemble its police and army. |
