At the risk of being boo'ed on another forum, I will give it a whirl. I enjoy Tylers work. He insists that he wants to touch problems of the world today. The movie, "Madea's Family Reunion" would have been more enjoyable had I not seen the play. While at the wedding in the play, Tyler as Madea draws his shoulders up and says, "Damn damn damn." We all know he was mocking Esther Rolle, a wonderful actress that gave us many years of enjoyment, God rest her soul. My problem with this is, Tyler was not mocking a character, but a real human being who has no control over her person in that respect. It is never funny to me when anyone mocks real humans. This made me review his statements about wanting to send out messages in his work. Well this was a horrible message. Ms. Rolle no doubt, would have supported Tyler and his work. So many people love Tyler to the point where they refuse to see anything wrong with the actions of Tyler's character, Madea. Most of Tyler's work are spoofs, but in mocking Ms. Rolle, he fell short. I do think he should apologize to the family, fans, and friends of Ms. Esther Rolle.
