I happened to meet Bob Button in early 2001. I was new to Greenwich and didn't know anyone. When I described a community sing-along I wanted to bring to the town, Bob and his wonderful wife, Decima Button, were very supportive. They introduced me to Peggi de la Cruz, president of Connecticut Playmakers, and for six years we produced Sing!Sing!Sing!-- sophisticated sing-alongs featuring the Great American Songbook -- Gershwin, Berlin, Kern, Porter, and more. Bob was at the piano the first three years, accompanying the audience in full-throated song. Between songs, Decima gave us musical anecdotes about the songs and the composers. Those were wonderful times -- thanks for the memory, Bob.
