I'm sure the bands appreciate publishing their fees. I'm a bit surprised that Los Lobos will play for less than The Wailers. Bring on the "made in China" cheap souvenirs and sugar laden foods. We have fake bombs to set of (fireworks - the non-polluting type of course) and crap to buy! Don't miss the exhibits - the best part of the fair (for reals).

wow, you get the crummy rhythym section from CCR (no John Fogerty) and have to pony up 50k....where as a legit. contemporary super talented band like Los Lobos fetches about half that? Man, how's that work?

Funny how you look all over the US and they have bands like Night Ranger, or 38 Special or some cool country acts. Marin has always had looser bands. This guy has no imagination. Looser bands. Sha na na. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? CCR redone - Hey its 2009. Get a team of young people involved.
The Wailers are decent

$ 50,000 for Creedence Clearwater Revisited ? You have got to be kidding.
This band has the Creedence Clearwater Revival rhythm section. It was a
decent enough rhythm section but they did not write and of the classic songs
of Creedence Clearwater Revival .Creedence Clearwater Revisited evidently
has a John Fogerty sound-a-like because Mr. Fogerty is not part of the band
that will play at the fair. I think Los Lobos should get paid more than
Creedence Clearwater Revisited.Mr Farley should be careful how he doles
out the money.

50K for CCR? I see a pretty narrow selection of acts - no DJs, no downtempo, no hiphop, no current local rock bands - with the exception of the Wailers and Los Lobos, dinosaur bands. But that should please the grey populations of Marin (boo, hiss, I know!). I read this just after reading the lineup at Outside Lands in the city - wow, night and day.

Whadda bunch of whinners!!!! If you don't like any of the bands don't go. I think Jim got a good cross section of music and talent spread throughout the course of the fair for the $ he had to work with. Where else can you get that much LIVE music for the price in one spotl Geeez!

Yea, I agree. Only would Marin County pay
pay Clearwater that much. The fair is extremely
boring and needs a new director--someone in their twenties, or thirties, but I'll probably go out
of Marin boredom. Just a reminder; only off
duty cops can get drink and drive home.

Where's the diversity?...Why no Skin-Head bands like Screw Driver to balance things out...?

Considering it is the Marin County Fair I would have hoped for a much better and local line-up. Marin has produced so many top shelf acts over the years I think it is unfortunate that we cant line up 5 or 6 of them to play at the county fair.

I appreciate a nostalgia act, but this fair regularly books dinosaurs--more than once. How many times have War and Los Lobos played the fair? Bring in a modern act or two, get some local talent involved.

Sadly our ethnocentric and homogenous Marin community would view the
selection of music for the County Fair as an offering to suit everyone. Hardly!
The narrow paradigm through which this "entitled" lily white collection of control
freaks see things is always characterized by what "they", the shrinking number
of super-yuppies, considers palatable. Some soulful R&B might appeal to a
few folks! Is this an indication of the forecast, and fate of the African-Americans
who still maintain residence in Marin? Don't you people remember the Temptin'
Temptations, Chaka Khan, Mary J Blige, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Robert Cray Band
Lotsa choices! And here I was thinking that Black was Back!! Guess not.

These guys are all pretty lame, but at least it's not Chaka Khan or any of those other terrible R&B bands that Splinter, who seems angry, recommended. Know your audience clown. Have you ever been to the marin county fair? It's basically a larger version of I would imagine a clear lake trailer park to look like, only with terrible food and more dust.

Fireworks are solid though, but they would suck with Robert Cray playing behind them.

What happened to Night Ranger playing on Senior Day?

Night Ranger played at the sonoma-marin fair. You missed it! It was a good show-well worth the 15 bucks to get in and $6 budweiser.
