We have so many buildings in our area that should be utlitized and honored for it's role in Deming History. For example, the "Holy Cross", just sits out there waiting for vandals to come out and destroy it. Why hasn't the city or county or whomever calls the shots, decided to preserve and utilize this piece of history that was built during the time Camp Cody was in Deming? Why have they let it rot?

Congratulations,Deming, for continuing to preserve the many historical buildings. My father worked on some of those buildings and streets. He would be so proud to know that they are still standing and preserved.

I say its time to tear them all down and change the image of this town. And Holy Cross used to be used for devil worship, don't think ya want to restore it. Out with the old and in with the new. Take a picture and let it go.

Why don't you go back to wherever it is you came from? Maybe read up on the history of Deming and Luna County it is an amazing story. If Holy Cross was ever used for devil worship it was long after it was abandoned. It should be turned into a monument to Camp Cody! Thanks to those beautiful old buildings (like the post office and the court house) Deming still does have some charm left! Those buildings are objects of pride for so many families in the area! Our Grandfathers and Fathers helped build them! That was back when people took pride in their work and didn't build generic, ugly crap like what is built now. Do you know the meaning of urban sprawl? If you do and that's what you want then move to some over crowded, over populated area and be miserable there! Quit picking on the good things are are left in Deming!

Please spare me of your urban sprawl bs. There is nothing worse than to see old decrepit buildings that smell of mildew and moth balls. I’m not saying history isn’t important, but that’s what museums, pictures and documentation are for. You can’t keep patching and renovating these old buildings. You seem to be one of the people that like Deming just the way it is and can’t except change. These buildings, just like humans, have their time on this earth and when its time to go, its time to go. Like it or not this town will never solve its unemployment, teenage pregnancy, alcohol and drug addiction and gang problems unless we change its image. Money and investors drive through this town every day and I believe their impression of Deming isn’t one of which they would want to invest. You and all your cronies have run this town for to long and maybe its time for you to leave.

Oh, by the way, if you think Duke Energy is so bad, so using the electricity it produces. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

P.S. You probably won’t be able to respond to this, since your computer and internet run off electricity.
