A few weeks ago, when I heard Davy Jones was gone at age 66 of a heart attack, I walked out to my truck, unearthed the Monkees CD from the bottom of the storage bin, popped it in the player, and went for a drive.

Thank you for your tribute to Davy and the Monkees they deserve it. Their music has brought nothing but happiness and their album sales alone should merit them a place in Jan's elitist Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their music has stood the test of time and they have long ago proved they were a worthy band. I met Davy by sheer quirk of fate when he and a friend came into my work to talk to my boss. It was 7 years past the Monkees show but all of we twenty-somethings reverted to giddy stupidity. He was gracious and polite and very much the class act. He will be missed. It doesn't matter if the other Monkees reunite or not it will never be the same. The era passed with Davy's departure.

Lovely!.. though i would say that once the guys took control over the music.. THE MUSIC GOT A WHOLE LOT BETTER.. They may have not been on top of the charts but Man, Everything they did after HEADQUARTERS stand the test of TIME.. IF YOU DONT OWN THE SOUNDTRACK OF "HEAD" (the movie) YOU'RE MISSING OUT! Great songs, great vibe! These guys became a band as the show progressed and HEADQUARTERS was what made it official..

Thank you for that wonderful article. I just wrote a personal piece for my college comp class and mentioned acting out the episodes too, that's great! Davy was never my favorite, but he did manage to worm his way into my heart. I was lucky enough to meet him once and he was always the charmer! Everytime I hear a Monkees song on my Sirius XM radio, I crank that sucker up and roll down the windows for the whole world to hear....they were nuclear, and I'm so glad I was around for the fallout, it still glows in my heart!
