Another sweet heart deal, I'd like to get the stadium for only $7500 per event and run a promotion that brings in almost a half million dollars. Meanwhile they turn the screws on the rest of us taxpayers until we bleed to death or flee.

It kind of give interesting insight into the position the City was in 10 years ago vs. today. Just to have the balls to ask for additional money is a sign of the success of both the Spinners and the confidence in downtown Lowell. 10 years ago you couldn't say the same thing.

I think the gift is a nice gesture from Webs, when he could have just said F'off. Bern had to get something out of him, and he did, and now this sets the stage for the upcoming lease negotiations.

Actually it was almost 8500 tickets that were sold. And that was a nice thing of Weber to do. He didn't have to give anything to the city. It is his park...not the city's. The city is lucky they got that!:)

Webber will make that money up in no time. If a group, even a non profit, wants to rent the park for an event, the Spinners will charge a steep price ($3000+) for the "priviledge" of using a publicly funded, publicly owned venue. Sweet deal!!

It's the city's park, not Weber's. But that said, it is a nice gesture from Weber, and hopefully the city will negotiate a deal that not only compensates the City monetarily, but leaves room for future franchise growth and good relations.

If you recall, it was John Cox and council that blocked the independently financed expansion of the park, which at the time, was proposed to lure the Trenton Red Sox (Now the Seadogs).
